Come and join us in building the infrastructure our planet needs to achieve a sustainable future.

We have successfully delivered large infrastructure projects across Canada since 2001.  Our leadership and expertise span the entire value chain from research and development through construction, operation and maintenance of projects.  Currently involved in some of Canada’s largest infrastructure projects, ACCIONA delivers solutions that contribute to the economic and social progress of the communities in which it operates. www.acciona.ca

ACCIONA is a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy, delivering innovative, forward-thinking solutions in over 40 countries. We’re proud to be shaping some of the most complex and transformative infrastructure projects in North America.

In partnership with Metrolinx, ACCIONA is playing a key role in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), a 9.2-kilometre westward addition to Toronto’s Line 5 light rail transit network. This major infrastructure project includes seven new stations and installation of rail and systems under a progressive design-build model.

Beyond its technical scope, the ECWE project represents a significant investment in sustainable urban mobility, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5,800 tonnes annually and eliminate over 6.5 million vehicle trips each year when combined with the full Line 5.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team on a complex, high-value project that supports long-term regional growth and environmental sustainability. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact and advance your career with a global infrastructure leader, we encourage you to apply and grow with us.

The Geotechnical Technical Coordinator will support the technical delivery and coordination of geotechnical activities across the ECWE SRS project.

Reporting to the Geotechnical & Foundations Technical Lead, the Geotechnical Technical Coordinator will coordinate geotechnical design inputs, investigations, technical reviews, construction support, construction impact assessment, instrumentation and monitoring, geotechnical records, and interfaces between geotechnical consultants, designers, construction teams, subcontractors, and other technical disciplines.

The position will support geotechnical requirements across underground stations, excavations, tunnels, portals, emergency exit buildings, elevated guideway foundations, utility works, temporary works, and other infrastructure within the SRS scope.

The successful candidate will have practical experience in geotechnical engineering coordination within major civil infrastructure, transportation, transit, tunnelling, excavation, foundation, or construction projects. The role requires a strong understanding of geotechnical principles and the ability to translate technical requirements into coordinated constructible solutions.

Job Description

- Coordinate geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological activities across assigned project work packages and serve as the primary interface between designers, consultants, construction teams, subcontractors, and project management.

- Review and coordinate geotechnical, hydrogeological, SOE, SEM, tunnelling, foundation, excavation support, temporary works, and related technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.

- Ensure geotechnical requirements, design assumptions, and risk considerations are effectively integrated into multidisciplinary designs, including stations, tunnels, shafts, portals, caverns, elevated guideways, foundations, utilities, trackwork, and temporary works.

- Coordinate and review geotechnical investigations, borehole drilling programs, laboratory testing, groundwater assessments, geological mapping, and site characterization activities to support design development and construction.

- Review, interpret, and communicate geotechnical investigation findings, including soil and rock conditions, groundwater conditions, laboratory testing results, and subsurface risks to project team.

- Identify discrepancies between geotechnical assumptions, design documentation, construction methodologies, and observed field conditions, and coordinate development of appropriate technical solutions.

- Work closely with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological requirements are fully integrated into the design of stations, ancillary facilities, portals, tail tracks, track alignments, structures, and utilities.

- Coordinate geotechnical interfaces across all project disciplines, ensuring ground conditions, foundation requirements, excavation constraints, groundwater considerations, and geotechnical risks are appropriately addressed throughout design development, construction planning, and project execution.

- Provide technical support during excavation, tunnelling, SEM works, shaft and cavern construction, foundation installation, earthworks, dewatering, and temporary works activities.

- Review geotechnical aspects of construction methodologies, excavation sequencing, support systems, dewatering strategies, and constructability considerations to optimize safety, schedule, cost, and construction efficiency.

- Coordinate technical assessment and resolution of differing site conditions, unexpected ground conditions, groundwater issues, settlement, deformation, obstructions, and other geotechnical challenges encountered during construction.

- Coordinate geotechnical requirements for deep excavations, support of excavation systems, shoring, bracing, underpinning, anchors, temporary works, and protection of adjacent infrastructure, utilities, roadways, and structures.

- Support technical coordination of foundation systems, including piles, caissons, drilled shafts, retaining structures, elevated guideway foundations, and associated testing and verification programs.

- Coordinate groundwater management, hydrogeological assessments, dewatering activities, and groundwater control measures, and evaluate their impacts on excavation performance, settlement, temporary works, and permanent structures.

- Coordinate geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring programs, including settlement, ground movement, inclinometers, piezometers, groundwater levels, vibration, structural movement, and excavation support monitoring; review trends and escalate trigger-level exceedances.

- Coordinate responses to RFIs, technical queries, design reviews, NCRs, technical submissions, field issues, and design changes, ensuring timely closure of comments, actions, and technical decisions.

- Identify, evaluate, and manage geotechnical risks related to ground conditions, groundwater, excavation stability, tunnelling, foundations, temporary works, adjacent structures, utilities, and construction activities; support development and implementation of mitigation measures.

- Support Progressive Design-Build activities by facilitating collaboration between designers, construction teams, consultants, TRP technical team, and project stakeholders, ensuring field observations and construction experience are incorporated into design development.

- Ensure geotechnical activities comply with project specifications, approved designs, applicable standards, codes, quality requirements, and project procedures, while supporting audits, t
