About the Role:
Customers are King! Each and every day the Customer Success Team works to ensure that our clients are maximizing the value they receive from PitchBook. Onboarding, training, support, business development and renewals are handled by the Customer Success team. Customer Success does whatever it takes to ensure our customers achieve their goals and continue to grow their engagement with the PitchBook Platform.
PitchBook’s Sales Engineer provides support to our Sales and Customer Success teams as well as our clients related to our API and data feed solutions. Our Sales Engineer can easily navigate the technical aspects of our API and data feed products and effectively communicate how these products work to our clients or prospects. This role also provides ongoing technical support to clients related to our API and data feed products.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical expert for clients and prospects across PitchBook's Direct Data products - API, data feeds, and MCP server - from pre-sales evaluation through post-implementation support, including building and delivering technical demonstrations and proofs-of-concept that show PitchBook data working inside a client's own environment
- Advise clients and prospects on integrating PitchBook data into AI workflows, including our Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, AI agents, and LLM-based applications
- Partner with PitchBook's Commercial team to determine and implement technical solutions for clients and prospects
- Partner with remote development teams to build client solutions across PitchBook's Direct Data products
- Manage a queue of client and prospect requests for technical support, sample data, and product feedback
- Work collaboratively with Product and Data Operations teams to share client feedback and insights, driving product enhancements that align with user needs, and industry best practices
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster trust, identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and ensure overall client satisfaction
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of experience in sales/solutions engineering, customer success, or technical sales
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Depth in at least two of the following: financial markets knowledge, technical skills, or sales/customer success expertise - enough to work credibly with enterprise clients such as major investment banks, Big 4 consulting firms, and Fortune 500 companies
- Familiarity with REST APIs, structured data formats, basic SQL, and scripting a plus
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong project management, and organizational skills
- Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and familiarity with the sales pipeline
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and systems
- Strong desire and ability to learn more about the private equity, venture capital, private credit, and M&A marketplaces and understand how each of our diverse client types engages with our product and data
- Working familiarity with AI tools and emerging integration standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) preferred, and the ability to explain their practical application to technical and non-technical audiences

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $110,000-$110,000
- Annual on target variable commission of fully ramped representative meeting expectations: $30,500
- PitchBook currently has no cap on commission and commission is determined by individual performance

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
