Head of Marketing
Helogen · Los Angeles · onsite
USD 180,000 to 220,000 per year
The Role:
Helogen is hiring our first Head of Marketing to define, build, and lead our marketing function. You'll be joining a small team of high-caliber engineers, scientists, builders, and operators united by the belief that the microgravity environment of space represents one of the greatest untapped opportunities in the history of industry. We value execution over perfection, clarity over complexity, and ownership over handholding. We move quickly, learn fast, and adapt as the company evolves.
As our Head of Marketing, you'll shape our core narrative into a strong, clear, and consistent market presence with investors, customers, partners, media, and talent. You'll develop the playbook for reaching key audiences, set priorities, build repeatable marketing programs, and establish the metrics that help us evaluate what's working. You'll bring strategic judgment and creative ambition while remaining hands-on, ensuring our marketing is as rigorous and effective as the technology we're building. As we grow, you’ll build and lead a team, and your work will shape not just how Helogen is perceived, but what it becomes.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead Helogen’s marketing strategy, translating company objectives into clear priorities and programs that build market awareness, credibility, and commercial opportunity
- Develop the marketing playbook, establishing brand guidelines, tone, channels, KPIs, and processes that enable consistent, scalable execution
- Own Helogen’s positioning and messaging, ensuring our narrative is clear, compelling, and consistent across audiences, channels, and touchpoints
- Lead content and thought leadership, translating complex technical concepts into stories that communicate our value, demonstrate our expertise, and establish Helogen’s role in the emerging space industrialization market
- Partner with the CEO and Commercial team to align marketing priorities with company strategy, customer opportunities, fundraising, partnerships, and broader business goals
- Design strategies for PR, events, partnerships, and speaking engagements that extend our reach and resonate with potential customers, investors, partners, and media
- Create marketing materials, including customer presentations, mission briefs, capability overviews, case studies, and event materials as needed
- Leverage performance data and market insights to evaluate effectiveness, inform decision-making, and improve our approach
- Manage external agencies, freelancers, and creative partners; provide clear direction, uphold quality standards, and drive accountability
- Build and lead the marketing team as Helogen grows, establishing the capabilities and structure needed to support the company’s evolving goals
What We're Looking For:
- Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional experience, with proven experience leading the marketing function in a high-growth company; industry experience in space, robotics, AI, or advanced manufacturing is strongly preferred
- Experience building a marketing program in an environment where resources are limited, priorities shift quickly, and systems are being created from scratch
- Strategic and commercially-minded, you understand how marketing supports customer acquisition, fundraising, commercial conversations, recruiting, and category leadership
- Comfortable with hands-on work across all marketing activities while we’re lean; you need to be willing to jump in and execute where needed
- Strong creative and visual instincts, you have a high bar for excellence and are able to guide designers and agencies to meet quality standards
- Experience managing external agencies, freelancers, and creative partners, with the ability to set clear expectations, allocate resources, and hold partners accountable
- A data-informed approach to decision-making; you’re able to set meaningful KPIs, evaluate performance, and adjust strategy based on results
- An exceptional writer and storyteller, you can distill complex technical concepts into clear, compelling language that makes a company, product, or category feel important, differentiated, and timely
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; you can manage competing deadlines, launches, agencies, content calendars, and internal stakeholders simultaneously
- Resourceful and adaptable, you bring creative ambition without preciousness, strong opinions without ego, and a deep respect for the technical and commercial complexity of what we are building
- Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS/MBA in a relevant field
- You’ve previously worked in a company like WHOOP, Oura, Levels, Eight Sleep, Ramp, Mercury, Anduril, Hadrian, Axiom, Vast, Relativity, Arc, Astranis, Ginkgo, Benchling, or another high-growth company with a strong narrative, technical product, and ambitious market vision
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $180,000-220,000 with equity offered. This is an in-office position located in Los Angeles, CA.
Benefits:
- Unlimited PTO
- Health, dental, vision and life insurance
- 401(k) program
- Membership to OneMedical
- Be part of creating something new that will change the world
