Structural Steel Fitter / Welder-Fitter
Location: York, PA
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay Rate: Up to $25.00/hour for Structural Steel Fitters and up to $24.00/hour for Structural Steel Welder-Fitters, depending on experience.
Position Overview
We are hiring experienced structural steel professionals for first-shift opportunities in York, PA. Depending on your background, you may focus on fitting and steel layout or perform both fitting and welding work. Both roles require blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
What You'll Do:
- Review blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications before starting projects.
- Measure, mark, position, and fit steel components to meet project requirements.
- Complete fitting, fabrication, and welding work based on the assigned position.
- Set up and operate a track torch.
- Safely use and maintain welding machines, tools, and related equipment.
- Check finished work for proper measurements, accuracy, and quality.
- Coordinate with coworkers and supervisors to complete jobs on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all shop safety procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous structural steel fitting, welding, or fabrication experience.
- Structural Steel Fitters: At least 3 years of structural steel fabrication experience.
- Welder-Fitters: Previous experience with structural steel welding and fitting.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with welding processes, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to set up and operate a track torch.
- Welder-Fitter applicants must be able to pass all required Flux Core Welding tests.
- AWS or other relevant welding certifications are preferred.
- Strong measuring, layout, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
