Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst, Safety Intelligence

Roblox · San Mateo, CA, United States

USD 154,970 to 184,570 a year

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

As a Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst on the Safety Intelligence team, you'll proactively hunt for emerging threats to Roblox's community before they become incidents. You'll work across harm domains, following actors, networks, and tactics as they move between child endangerment, violent extremism, extortion, fraud, and other critical harms to surface connections that single-domain efforts can miss. You'll combine internal platform data, open-source and off-platform collection, and AI-assisted tooling to turn weak signals into finished intelligence that drives detection, enforcement, product changes, and partnerships. You'll report to the Manager, Safety Intelligence and Investigations and partner closely with Investigations, Moderation Operations, Policy, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Law Enforcement Operations.

Please note: This role requires reviewing graphic, controversial, and offensive content in accordance with Roblox's handling policies.

You will:

- Lead proactive, hypothesis-driven threat hunts across harm domains, using internal data, open-source intelligence, and off-platform collection to find the unknown unknowns: new actors, tactics, and evasion techniques, before they scale.

- Identify cross-domain connections by tracking actors, networks, and behaviors that span multiple harm types, and assess how co-occurring harms reinforce one another on and off the platform.

- Produce clear, multi-sourced finished intelligence (threat assessments, trend analyses, and briefings) for audiences from analysts to senior leaders, with stated confidence levels and actionable recommendations.

- Turn findings into action by partnering with Data Science, Engineering, and Moderation Operations to develop detection signals and behavioral indicators, and by handing off high-risk leads to Investigations and Law Enforcement Operations.

- Help define and maintain priority intelligence requirements and collection plans, and track how intelligence changes decisions so we can show its impact.

- Build repeatable hunting methods, including playbooks, queries, and AI-assisted workflows, and mentor other analysts in tradecraft, analytic standards, and writing.

You have:

- 6+ years of experience in threat intelligence, trust and safety investigations, cybersecurity, extremism or counter-terrorism analysis, or a related intelligence discipline.

- A track record of proactively hunting threat actors, not only responding to reports: forming hypotheses, collecting across multiple sources, and validating findings.

- Working knowledge of more than one harm domain (for example child safety, violent extremism, fraud, extortion, or illicit goods) and the ability to see how they overlap.

- Advanced proficiency with SQL, scripting (such as Python), and open-source intelligence methods to analyze large datasets, recognize behavioral patterns, and pivot between data sources.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering finished intelligence to both technical and executive audiences.

- Experience working across matrixed teams (such as Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, and law enforcement) to turn analysis into action, and comfort operating in ambiguity.

- Bonus: experience on an online platform, social media, or gaming trust and safety or intelligence team; experience applying AI or LLM tools to investigative workflows; experience with industry or law enforcement information sharing; relevant foreign language skills.
