Staff Engineer
Duties: Support the development of new X-ray and Laser science instruments, X-ray and optical beamline systems, and help lead the development of new operational capabilities for the Linac Coherent Light Source facility. Requirements: BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field; 5 years' experience in engineering and/or engineering research, to include a solid background in each: performing engineering calculations; performing finite element analysis using software such as Ansys or Abaqus; analyzing precision optomechanical instrumentation components; preparing technical reports and documentation; using computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as Creo Parametric or Solid Edge, to develop detailed models of complex mechanical assemblies, generate engineering drawings, and apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) guidelines; performing seismic analysis; scripting and automating simulation workflows; manufacturing of new scientific devices. Demonstrated success collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. #LI-DNI and #DNI
