JOB DESCRIPTION

The Joint Industry board is seeking a customer service representative with an ideal background in benefits, and or Health Insurance administration in managing high volume phone calls.

Under general supervision, the Temporary Customer Service Representative will report to the Members Records Supervisor, and Assistant Supervisor. including but not limited to them following:

- Interacts with customers via telephone, email, or in person to provide support and information on products or services.

- Fields customer questions and complaints; when the issue is beyond the representatives knowledge, forwards to the assigned specialist or other appropriate staff.

- Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customers problems and concerns.

- Maintains customer accounts and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.

- Catalog the incoming calls, record the message the information of each caller and forward to the right party.

- Manage physical and email communications for the department and distribute to the right party as needed.

- Handle and assist membership through customer service.

- May be required to perform other duties as necessary.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work environment with physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. This would require the ability to lift files, pull files/ forms /books, stand, bending, shred documents, open/close filing cabinets as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a Temporary, onsite 35 hours per week– non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30AM-4:30PM.

Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime when necessary.

- High School Diploma or equivalent degree.

- Knowledge of employee health benefits, COBRA, a plus.

- Must have excellent customer service skills, in-person and over the telephone.

- Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught members.

- Must possess strong communication skills to interact with Local 3 membership, internal departments, supervisor, and fellow co-workers.

- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office.

- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to multi-task

- Must be able to follow procedures and maintain an overall acceptable attendance record.
