Director of Engineering

ABOUT THE ROLE
Lead multiple product engineering teams at a mission-driven K-12 education technology company. You will guide product delivery and technical direction as the organization scales, working closely with product and other cross-functional partners.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead multiple engineering squads, supporting engineers and managers and driving delivery across product areas.
- Start with a hands-on balance of coding, code reviews, and pairing, with the role evolving toward greater emphasis on leadership over time.
- Make and communicate architecture decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.
- Partner with product and cross-functional stakeholders to set squad goals and align engineering priorities with business outcomes.
- Deliver high-value product features, including AI-powered capabilities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 3 years of engineering management experience, including leadership of multiple engineering teams and experience scaling teams.
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, with strong backend architecture and design skills and a willingness to remain hands-on.
- Experience with TypeScript or Python, AWS, and MongoDB; familiarity with React is relevant to the current stack.
- Background in K-12 EdTech or related education and learning fields, ideally including mission-driven work.
- Ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes, communicate clearly, and operate effectively in a high-growth environment.
- Experience learning and applying AI technologies.
- Authorized to work in the United States without new visa sponsorship, or eligible for a visa transfer.
- Available for company retreats twice a year and additional business travel several times a year.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary range: $210,000 to $240,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Fully remote within the United States.
