Security Operations Center Specialist (2nd Shift)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Tech Systems is seeking a Security Operations Center (SOC) Specialist to monitor video surveillance, access control, alarm, and security systems that protect people, facilities, and assets. This role is responsible for assessing alarm activity, dispatching appropriate responders, documenting incidents, and providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
SHIFT SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am
As part of a 24/7 Security Operations Center, occasional weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift coverage may be required based on business needs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
- Monitors security access control systems, alarm systems, CCTV and other control programs and systems that protect company employees, contractors, visitors, and assets.
- Capable of making reasonable assessments of possible threats when viewing security cameras.
- Maintains accurate records of all work performed, materials used, and communicates any problem encountered or identified with security system.
- Answers incoming lines, remaining calm, and speaking clearly to customers.
- Provides timely, efficient, and professional service to all clients to ensure client satisfaction.
- Must be willing to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Attends to other matters and duties assigned by the Monitoring Center Manager or other executive staff of Tech Systems.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
This position has been designated as a safety-sensitive position under Company policy. Employees in this role perform duties where impaired performance could result in a significant risk of harm to themselves, coworkers, clients, or the public. This position is subject to the Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including drug and alcohol testing, as permitted by applicable law.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION
- High School Diploma required.
- Associates degree in Technical or Criminal Justice, preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Security Operations Center or 911 Dispatch Center.
- Some law enforcement and/or military background, a plus.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCY
- Excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft based products (such as MS Word, Excel, MS Office Suite, and Outlook) and the Internet.
- Experience with physical security, to include video surveillance.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced mission critical environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, including a sense of urgency when attending to internal needs.
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, including, but not limited to, the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Strong time management skills, including ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to, the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with Tech Systems’ staff, vendors, and customers.
- Demonstrates a commitment to safe work practices by complying with all Company safety policies and procedures and performing work in a manner that protects employees, customers, and the public.
D. DRIVER’S LICENSE
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a clean driving record, satisfactory to Tech Systems’ automobile insurance carrier.
F. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Job duties are performed in an office setting. This position will report to the Buford office with some telecommuting. Shift work is required for 24/7 coverage, it is expected that this position will require some work outside of the normal schedule.
