Product Designer (UI/UX)
Raydar · San Francisco, California, United States · onsite
About the company
Our client is a fast-growing media company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own interface design for a small, fast-moving product team, from early sketches through shipped screens. The work combines designing and prototyping several directions from scratch, handing finished screens to engineers, and checking outcomes against usage data, with a strong emphasis on visual and emotional quality.
What you'll do
- Design the main user workflow from start to finish, balancing open-ended input with enough guidance that new users can get started.
- Prototype and test several interface directions, then choose the strongest using user flows, session recordings and funnel data.
- Set and maintain the visual and emotional quality standard across the product so decisions do not need to pass through one person.
- Brief full-stack engineers directly and iterate with them on a same-day release cycle.
- Gather visual references from outside software to give the product a look and feel distinct from category norms.
What we're looking for
- At least 2 to 3 years of professional UI/UX or product design experience after formal education, excluding internships.
- A portfolio of screens designed from scratch that shows strong visual and interaction craft and a clear, distinctive taste.
- Experience shipping product UI that others have used.
- Real ownership of past screens or flows, not only contributions to a large team.
- Comfort using AI-assisted design workflows.
- Uses user data and behavior to test design decisions, not only intuition.
- Able to work with engineers independently and give clear direction without acting as a manager.
- Reasonably organized, tracking their own work and decisions without needing a project manager.
- Able to work in the office in San Francisco at least 5 days a week at a high-intensity pace.
- Genuine interest in video and creative tools.
Bonus points
- Experience designing for a prompt-driven creation product.
- Hands-on experience producing video, or publishing content on social platforms under one's own name.
- Experience with template-based or design tools aimed at non-designers.
- Design school background.
- Interest in growing into a head of product role over time.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: $120,000 to 180,000
- Equity
- Health, dental and vision coverage
