Intern (Rotational- Business Development, Marketing, Customer Service)

Employer not yet confirmed · Glen Allen, Virginia, United States

BHE GT&S has an exciting summer internship opportunity for a rising sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Economics, Business or Marketing student within our Business Development Department located at our Headquarters located in Glen Allen, VA.

This summer 2027 internship is a rotational opportunity within BHE GT&S Commercial Services. Although the intern will join through our Business Development team, they will rotate through three commercial departments during the summer: Business Development, Marketing, and Customer Service/Pipeline Scheduling. This structure gives the student hands-on experience across the full life cycle of the natural gas pipeline business, from identifying new opportunities, to contracting capacity with customers, to scheduling the gas that flows through our system each day. BHE GT&S is looking for a rising sophomore, junior, or senior to fill this role.

As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals in each group, performing market research, data analysis, and reporting while learning how the three departments work together to serve our customers. During your rotation, you will be introduced to the following teams:

- Business Development: Identifies and evaluates growth opportunities for our pipeline system, including expansions, new services, and lower-carbon options such as hydrogen and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). You will support our Market Development Representatives with customer research, ad hoc project analysis, and building the business case for potential projects.

- Marketing: Manages relationships with our customers and markets our transportation and storage services. You will learn how capacity is contracted and priced, gain an understanding of energy pricing and locational hubs, and help develop reports, dashboards, and map views that inform business decisions.

- Customer Service/Pipeline Scheduling: Supports customers in their day-to-day business on our system, including nominations, confirmations, and scheduling of natural gas flows in accordance with our tariff. You will see how contracted capacity becomes daily pipeline operations and how the team delivers responsive, reliable service to our customers.

Each rotation builds on the last, giving you a connected view of how a pipeline opportunity moves from concept, to contract, to daily operations. Benefits of this rotational internship include:

- A broad understanding of the natural gas pipeline industry life cycle that few internships offer.

- Exposure to multiple energy projects, customer meetings, and access to energy leaders across three departments.

- Practical experience with analytical and visual tools used to evaluate opportunities, build business cases, and create reports and dashboards.

- A wider professional network and the chance to explore which area of commercial services best fits your interests and career goals.

- Considering your interests and our business priorities, you may also perform other job duties as requested or assigned.

Individuals must have a desire to learn and produce as part of a safety conscious workplace. An independent source of transportation for this summer 2027 internship is needed as there are limited public transportation options in the area.

Our summer internship program begins June 7 and includes a minimum of 8 weeks working on site. Earlier start dates and/or extended end dates may be available based on your summer schedule and business needs.
