Young people deserve to graduate from school scientifically literate and ready to tackle tomorrow's problems. With students set to enter a world and a workforce deeply infused with AI, their abilities to discern fact from fiction, make sense of data, and think critically are more important than ever.
Stile is committed to making the best science lessons in the known universe. We equip teachers with everything they need to deliver relevant, engaging and impactful lessons for their students. Stile's complete science curriculum for Australian secondary schools, housed on our award-winning teaching platform, is continually kept up to date with the latest science and is deeply and easily customised by teachers.
We’re incredibly proud that over 2,000,000 students have learnt with Stile so far, and we're on track for that number to reach 10,000,000 by 2030.
We're seeking an experienced science teacher with a passion for instructional coaching and professional learning to work alongside schools that are implementing Stile to enhance student outcomes and engagement.
Why this role rocks- Teach, not just talk: You'll spend full days in schools teaching regular science classes while the faculty observes, then unpack what they saw. Teachers change their practice because they watched you do it.
- Coach against a framework: Every review you run is anchored in the Science Teaching Excellence Framework, so the conversation is about high quality teaching and learning, and the evidence is in the classroom.
- See the whole arc: From a school's first implementation meeting to the day Stile is simply how they teach science, you're there for all of it.
- Customer experience and value-add: Make every touchpoint - bookings, follow-ups, feedback - feel easy and generous, and build a year-round rhythm of professional learning teachers genuinely enjoy.
- Professional learning design and delivery: Lead the design and delivery of PL that actually changes teaching practice - Demo Lessons, state roadshows, in-person and virtual sessions - all aligned to the Science Teaching Excellence Framework and adult learning theory.
- Work with a team that backs you: Stile's Curriculum, Pedagogy and Professional Learning team, Teacher Happiness team and product team are behind every conversation you have.
- Extend your impact beyond your classroom and school, working alongside Heads of Science, principals and the strongest voices in Australian science education.
What you'll be leading- Relationships and retention: Know every Head of Science and a member of leadership in your schools personally. Spot a school drifting before the data does, and act on it.
- Implementation: Run implementation meetings with school leaders and and Heads of Science, agree on a Science Teaching Excellence Framework focus for the year, and make sure every teacher is set up and confident before students arrive.
- Professional learning: Tailor training to each school's priorities, bring teachers into Stile Academy and our centralised PL days, and give them feedback on their Academy responses that is personal, prompt and worth acting on.
- Stilist in Schools days: Teach a full day of regular science classes in a partner school while the faculty observes, then lead the debrief. Modelling explicit instruction, engagement and off-device learning in their classrooms, with their students.
- Data review meetings: Three times a year with every school you own, you'll sit with the Head of Science and leaders, look at how teachers are using Stile and how teaching is tracking against the framework, and leave them with a clear plan for next term to improve student outcomes.
- Advocacy: Bring what you hear on the ground back to our product and content teams, so schools shape what we build.
What success looks likeWithin 6 months
- You deeply understand Stile's product, pedagogy and the Science Teaching Excellence Framework, and have delivered Stilist in Schools days solo.
- You've met every implementing and platinum Head of Science in your state, and held your first data-review with each.
- Every implementing school in your state has an implementation plan with a framework pillar agreed.
Within 12 months
- Implementing schools in your state are retained at 95%, and platinum schools renew at 90% with licence utilisation over 80%.
- Three data-reviews have been held with every school you own, each building on the last.
- Your Stilist in Schools days and PL sessions are well received and add value to your schools.
- Heads of Science in your state describe you as part of their team.
A bit more about youYou're a science teacher at heart with real classroom credibility, and you get as much from helping another teacher improve as you do from a great lesson of your own. You like being out in schools, you're comfortable in front of a principal, and you don't wait to be asked.
You've most likely taught secondary science; you may have been a Head of Science, an instructional coach or a learning specialist. If you've taught with Stile, even better.
Here are a few qualities we think will help you shine in this role (but you don't need all of them to apply):
- Classroom credibility: You can walk into an unfamiliar Year 8 class and teach a lesson the teachers watching want to copy. Teachers recognise you as one of them.
- Coach at heart: You develop other people's practice with feedback that's specific, usable and kind, and you can hold a conversation about teaching with a faculty without anyone feeling judged.
- Relationship builder: You get yourself in the room. You follow up, you turn up, and school leaders come to trust you quickly. Customer success or account management experience helps, but a track record of winning people over matters more.
- Reads the data: You're comfortable looking at usage reports and framework rubrics and turning them into a plain-language next step.
- Organised and self-directed: You'll run your own diary across a state to secure meetings and professional learning with schools, with a lot of schools and travel. Nothing gets dropped.
- Pedagogy nerd: You know the evidence on explicit instruction, retrieval practice and literacy in science, and you have opinions.
Hours and locationThis is a full-time role based in any major capital city. If you're not in Melbourne you'll work from home. You’ll regularly travel to schools across your state, so expect to be on the road often.
