Mid-Market Account Executive

Who We Are
Neighborly Software was built to help communities make a difference in the lives of low-income families and vulnerable populations. Our mission is simple, “Helping Communities, Help People.”
Headquartered in Atlanta, GA we offer a cloud-based technology platform for the administration and disbursement of governments funds for programs such as Housing, Economic, Community Development, Disaster Recovery/MIT, Home Energy Rebate Programs, and Housing Choice Voucher programs.
Neighborly Software is seeking a seasoned, mission-driven Account Executive to accelerate growth for our Housing & Community Development (HCD) solution. In this mid-market role, you will own the full sales lifecycle for new business—from self-sourced outbound prospecting through close. This is a hunting role: you will be responsible for building your own pipeline, not working an inbound queue. You will open relationships with the cities, counties, states, councils of government, subrecipients, and other mission-driven organizations that administer federal, state, and local funding to strengthen communities across the country.
This role is also built to grow. HCD is your focus today, and in the coming months you will add our Affordable Housing solution to your portfolio, selling into public housing authorities (PHAs) alongside your HCD territory. We are looking for someone who wants that expanded scope rather than someone looking to stay in a single lane.
The ideal candidate pairs proven public sector SaaS sales expertise with working knowledge of the funding and compliance landscape our clients navigate—CDBG, HOME, ESG, HOPWA, housing rehabilitation, and locally funded programs. You will be responsible for the full sales cycle, from researching your territory and generating your own opportunities through multi-stakeholder negotiations, public procurement processes, and close. This is a high-impact role where you’ll help modernize how communities administer government funding while advancing your career with a mission-driven technology company.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and own a self-sourced mid-market pipeline for the HCD solution, from first touch through close.
- Prospect outbound every week as a core, non-negotiable part of the role—researching accounts, identifying the right program administrators and decision-makers, and running persistent multi-channel outreach by phone, email, and LinkedIn to create net-new opportunities.
- Build and maintain a target account list for your territory, using funding awards, Consolidated Plans, RFP calendars, budget cycles, and association membership data to time outreach and lead with a relevant point of view.
- Build deep expertise in the housing and community development landscape, including the challenges and priorities of grantees, participating jurisdictions, and subrecipients administering CDBG, HOME, ESG, and locally funded programs.
- Position Neighborly Software as a single platform across the range of programs an agency administers, rather than a point solution for one funding stream.
- Ramp on the Affordable Housing solution as it comes into scope, extending your prospecting and sales motion into PHAs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Implementation teams to deliver compelling, solution-oriented software demonstrations tailored to each buyer and program area.
- Manage a high-velocity mid-market territory, running multiple concurrent opportunities with disciplined prioritization and navigating public procurement paths including RFPs, cooperative contracts, and sole-source justifications.
- Represent Neighborly Software at industry conferences, trade shows, and association events as a thought leader and trusted partner.
- Maintain accurate forecasts, prospecting activity, and pipeline reporting in the CRM, providing regular visibility into territory performance and opportunities.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience with public sector software sales with a proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding annual quotas AND/OR comparable experience administering community development or housing programs in a public sector environment, demonstrating consistent performance and results.
- Working knowledge of the housing and community development ecosystem, including federal, state, and local funding and compliance programs such as CDBG, HOME, ESG, and HOPWA, and the related reporting and monitoring requirements grantees carry.
- Demonstrated success self-sourcing pipeline through outbound prospecting, with a track record of generating a meaningful share of your own closed revenue from cold or lightly warmed outreach.
- Resilience and consistency in high-volume prospecting—comfortable with cold outreach, disciplined about daily and weekly activity, and able to keep momentum through long public sector buying cycles.
- Appetite to expand scope—able to learn a second solution and a second buyer set, organize territory time across both, and tailor the message to each audience as the portfolio grows.
- Experience managing a mid-market territory with a higher volume of concurrent opportunities and faster cycles than a traditional enterprise patch, including responsibility for filling it.
- Passion for helping local governments and community organizations improve outcomes through the use of technology.
- Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills; ability to build credibility, trust, and long-term relationships with senior executives and technical buyers.
- Extensive experience using CRM platforms and maintaining strong data hygiene.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to develop and execute effective territory and sales plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at or selling to cities, counties, states, councils of government, or nonprofit subrecipients administering HUD or locally funded programs.
- Familiarity with grants management, housing rehabilitation, loan servicing, or compliance software used by public agencies.
- Exposure to the affordable housing market—housing authorities, housing finance agencies, Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), or LIHTC compliance—given the planned expansion of this role.
- Professional certifications in grants management (e.g., CGMS), affordable housing (e.g., HCCP, SHCM, TCS), or sales (e.g., Certified Sales Professional).
- Existing network of contacts across the housing and community development industry (e.g., NACCED, NCDA, NAHRO, NAHM).
Travel
- Ability to travel up to 30% and/or as needed to meet with stakeholders and attend industry events.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- Comprehensive Benefits – Medical, Dental, Vision plan options and Company-Paid Short-Term Disability and Life Insurance
- 401K Contributions – Generous employer match with immediate vesting
- Generous Time Off – 5 weeks of PTO, 9 paid holidays, and 3 days of volunteer time off each year
