Infrastructure Planner – Network Deployment
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Planner to support the deployment of network elements by planning and allocating rack space, power, floor space, cabling, and associated infrastructure across telecommunications sites and data centres.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and allocate rack space, power, floor space, and infrastructure resources based on network element deployment requirements.
- Review equipment deployment requirements, including equipment dimensions, power consumption, heat dissipation, rack units (RU), and connectivity requirements.
- Assess site capacity and identify suitable locations for new network elements, racks, and associated equipment.
- Develop rack layouts, power allocation plans, site layouts, and infrastructure requirements for new deployments and expansions.
- Validate power availability, DC/AC capacity, PDU requirements, earthing, cooling, and environmental constraints.
- Coordinate with network engineering, facilities, data centre/site teams, field teams, and vendors to ensure deployment readiness.
- Identify infrastructure constraints and develop augmentation or remediation plans where required.
- Maintain accurate rack, power, space, and site capacity records and update planning databases.
- Support site audits and infrastructure readiness assessments prior to network element installation.
- Ensure infrastructure plans comply with engineering standards, site capacity limits, safety requirements, and operational guidelines.
Mandatory Skills
- Experience in telecommunications infrastructure or data centre planning.
- Strong understanding of rack layouts, RU allocation, power requirements, DC/AC systems, PDU, cabling, and equipment installation.
- Experience planning infrastructure for network equipment deployments and expansions.
- Ability to interpret equipment specifications, power requirements, dimensions, and installation requirements.
- Experience with site surveys, capacity assessments, infrastructure audits, and deployment readiness.
- Strong analytical, planning, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with telecom network elements such as routers, switches, transmission, mobile/core network equipment, and optical systems.
- Knowledge of data centre and telecommunications site standards.
- Experience with CAD/Visio or similar tools for rack and floor-plan layouts.
- Understanding of power, cooling, earthing, fibre/copper cabling, and environmental requirements.
- Experience working with network engineering, facilities, construction, field teams, and equipment vendors.
- Experience supporting large-scale network rollout, migration, and infrastructure modernisation programs.
