Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Maintenance team to assure smooth and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. This position will work with Production, Shipping/Receiving, Warehouse, QA, Engineering and People & Culture to ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations and company policies and procedures. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians, leads and planner/scheduler.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1st Major Area of Responsibility – Plant Operations Management

- Develop, implement, and analyze methodologies to improve factory efficiency and reliability, increasing asset utilization and reducing costs.

- Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to support improved performance of manufacturing processes, assets, safety, and quality. Through Total Preventative Maintenance, minimize line downtime, assist with process and operations improvement, process optimization, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

- Seek out process improvement opportunities and make recommendations for equipment improvements to management. Perform agreed upon improvements in a timely organized fashion.

- Work closely with the Engineering department with equipment upgrades, installs, and any modifications.

- Oversee, support, and develop the management of the Maintenance Department, over all shifts.

- Oversee maintenance project/task list and ensuring that maintenance assignments and completion of goals are met promptly.

- Manage CMMS system to keep system up to date and accurate.

- Prepare and manage the maintenance budget for the plant.

- Adhere to all safety and quality rules, regulations, policies, programs, and related Bernatello’s Foods Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.

- Ensure safety, compliance, efficiency, and speed is followed in all aspects of the jobs executed by the department.

- Work with all departments to ensure SQF certification which includes HACCP, GMP and housekeeping standards.

- Develops departmental goals proactively by planning for upcoming projects and repairs needed based on recognition of failing machinery. Collaborates with Production department to ensure repairs can be made in a manner to minimize downtime through effective planning.

2nd Major Area of Responsibility – Leadership and Safety

- Ensure improvement of service level by influencing and driving planning and scheduling of work orders to maximize equipment uptime and availability.

- Work with Engineering to prepare bids, budgets and contracts and direct the negotiation of terms with outside maintenance/facilities contractors.

- Must be able to work safely and courteously while abiding by the Company’s safety policies and procedure and assisting with eliminating and/or controlling safety hazards.

- Must have the ability to lead, participate in, and support Continuous Improvement; including process improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities.

- Partners with leadership to develop annual goals for staff that meets the department’s objectives.
