FOUNDING RECRUITER

Pure is looking for a Founding Recruiter to build and run how we hire. You http://hire.You’ll own our talent strategy: deciding who we need next, where to find them, and how to win them. Hiring well is one of the highest-leverage things we do right now, and you’ll be the person who makes it a competitive advantage. You’ll run first-round interviews, vet for culture, and sell Pure to exceptional people, while building the operational foundation of our people function: benefits, onboarding, and the systems behind them.

We’re growing fast, with open roles across engineering, design, and go-to-market. You’ll be our first dedicated people hire and a close partner to the founders, shaping both who joins Pure and how we scale the team.

Location: In-person only (New York office)

Type: Full-time

Reports to: Operations

What you’ll do

- Own the hiring strategy alongside the founders and hiring managers. Plan headcount, prioritize roles, and decide which hires matter most at each stage.

- Build sourcing strategy by channel. Decide where to invest across outbound (LinkedIn, JuiceBox), campuses and early-career programs, design communities, and referrals. Track which channels produce quality candidates and cut the ones that don’t.

- Design and run interview processes that fit each function, such as the video screen, culture screen, technical round, and founder final. Keep them consistent so candidates can be compared fairly, and keep them fast.

- Run first-round interviews across engineering, design, and go-to-market. Screen for culture, set expectations, and sell Pure to top candidates.

- Manage the pipeline end to end in Ashby, including job postings, stages, and candidate communication. Use the data to find bottlenecks and improve conversion.

- Be Pure’s face to the talent market. Represent us at design events and on campuses, and build a reputation that draws in people who wouldn’t otherwise consider us.

- Set up the people function from scratch: benefits packages, onboarding structure, and HR basics, built to scale with the team.

- Report on hiring progress, pipeline health, and what’s working so the founders can make decisions with confidence.

What we’re looking for

- 2+ years recruiting, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment, across technical and non-technical roles.

- Strong judgment on people. You can screen for culture and fit, and you know how to sell a company to top candidates.

- A strategic approach to talent. You think about pipeline, channel mix, and process design, not just filling open reqs.

- Experience with an applicant tracking system, ideally Ashby, and with outbound sourcing on LinkedIn and tools like JuiceBox.

- Operational instincts. You can stand up benefits, onboarding, and HR basics without a playbook.

- Comfortable wearing many hats, from recruiting to people operations to office logistics.

- A polished communicator who represents Pure well at events and in conversations with candidates.

- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

- Able to work in person at our NYC office.
