About the opportunities

Senior Technology Support Specialist, HEW 6

In this role you will provide technical expertise for complex and high-profile events, including executive and VIP engagements. You will resolve complex or recurring issues, coordinate escalations, guide colleagues and stakeholders, and improve event technology practices and service continuity.

Technology Support Specialist, HEW 5

In this role you will deliver core onsite event support: prepare and operate audiovisual systems, troubleshoot live issues and work with presenters, event organisers and colleagues to keep events running smoothly.

What you will do

Depending on the level of the appointment, responsibilities will include:

- Set up, test, operate and pack down event audiovisual equipment, including sound, presentation, video conferencing and lighting systems.

- Monitor live events and troubleshoot audiovisual, computing, peripheral and connectivity issues.

- Guide users with varying technical knowledge and collaborate with event teams, technology specialists and vendors.

- Own incidents and service requests, keep stakeholders informed and escalate when needed.

- Support installations, workstation setups, relocations, proactive maintenance and technology lifecycle improvements.

What will help you succeed

You will bring practical experience in audiovisual, event technology, desktop support, end-user computing or a related environment. For HEW 6, you will need more extensive experience managing complex issues and supporting high-profile or VIP events.

You will also demonstrate:

- Hands-on audiovisual and meeting-room technology knowledge, including sound, microphones, audio mixing, displays and video conferencing.

- Strong troubleshooting skills and a calm, responsive approach to live-event issues.

- Customer-focused service and clear communication with presenters, senior stakeholders, colleagues, vendors, staff and students.

- The ability to prioritise in a busy environment, work independently and contribute to a collaborative team.

- A commitment to continuous improvement and learning new technologies.

-

A relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, audiovisual technology, event production or a related discipline is desirable. Equivalent practical experience will also be valued.

Working arrangements

Based primarily at Melbourne City campus, with travel to other campuses as required. These are dedicated onsite event-support roles, not primarily remote or standard service-desk positions.

You must be available for rostered or split shifts within the 7:30 am–8:30 pm service window, with occasional event support outside standard business hours.

Why work at RMIT?
