Role:
The Member Solutions and Asset Protection Manager leads the Member Solutions and Asset Protection functions, overseeing collections, hardship assistance, loss mitigation, recoveries, bankruptcies, foreclosures, repossessions, collateral protection, and related risk management activities. Partners with leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness, and positive member outcomes while utilizing data analytics, process improvements, technology, and employee development to mitigate losses and achieve organizational objectives.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
50% Leads the daily operations of the Member Solutions and Asset Protection Departments, overseeing collections, hardship assistance, loss mitigation, recoveries, bankruptcies, foreclosures, repossessions, collateral protection, and related activities. Ensures department practices align with credit union policies, regulatory requirements, risk management objectives, and member service standards while partnering with the Vice President of Member Solutions & Asset Protection to support the strategic direction and performance of assigned functions.
20% Leads and develops the Member Solutions and Asset Protection team by hiring, coaching, and motivating employees to achieve operational goals and performance expectations. Fosters employee engagement, accountability, succession planning, and professional growth while promoting a culture of collaboration, empathy, continuous improvement, and exceptional service.
15% Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, credit union policies, operational controls, security requirements, and industry practices. Proactively partners cross-departmentally and with other business partners to ensure consistent and compliant practices. Communicates regularly with the Vice President of Member Solutions & Asset Protection regarding portfolio trends, operational performance, emerging risks, staffing needs, and progress toward strategic priorities.
10% Develops, monitors, and reports on key department and portfolio metrics, including delinquency, cure rates, charge-offs, recoveries, productivity, member outcomes, and service levels. Enhances and maintains dashboards, reporting tools, and monitoring processes that provide actionable insights to leadership. Uses data to identify emerging trends, evaluate strategies, improve operating efficiency, optimize technology, and appropriately balance solutions with asset protection.
5% Proactively performs other job-related duties and strategic assignments as needed. Leads or supports special projects in coordination with the Vice President of Member Solutions & Asset Protection, including process improvements, technology implementations, vendor partnerships, policy and procedure updates, reporting enhancements, and initiatives that advance Rogue Credit Union's strategic objectives.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience:
Five to eight years of progressively responsible experience in collections, asset protection, loss mitigation, recovery, bankruptcies, foreclosures, repossessions, workouts, or related financial services operations. Experience in managing employees, department performance, and a diverse lending portfolio is required.
Education:
Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and directly related experience may be considered. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies affecting collections, recovery, servicing, and asset protection is required.
Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust, diplomacy, and discretion is required. Work involves extensive contact with members, employees, business partners, vendors, and other external parties, often regarding personal, sensitive, complex, or confidential matters. The role requires the ability to resolve conflicts, influence others, build cooperation, communicate difficult information respectfully, and foster productive working relationships.
Other Skills:
Excellent management and leadership skills with sound judgment and strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Strong knowledge of collections, loss mitigation, recovery operations, regulatory compliance, and portfolio risk management. Proficiency with technology, data analysis, reporting tools, Microsoft Office, and advanced Excel. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Ability to independently prioritize work, lead complex projects, and adapt to changing business needs.
Physical Requirements:
Some lifting required (up to 30 pounds), continuous sitting, occasional standing and occasional walking. Finger dexterity while using computer. Occasional talking and hearing in person and on the telephone. Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and continuous clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
Work Environment:
This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery.
