The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to take a leading role in the mechanical design and engineering delivery of bespoke water treatment projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technically challenging projects, working closely with customers and collaborating across engineering, project management, manufacturing and commercial teams.

You’ll lead the mechanical design deliverables for projects involving ATG UV, Wallace & Tiernan chlorine gas feed, OSEC, analyser and controller technologies, while also supporting other treatment technologies where required.

You’ll also work closely with our Global Capability Center engineering team in India, coordinating and delegating engineering activities to support the capacity of the UK Treatment Engineering team.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Take ownership of mechanical design and engineering support across customer projects.

- Review customer specifications, industry standards and national regulations to ensure designs are compliant.

- Produce and coordinate detailed mechanical designs, engineering calculations, manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials and project documentation.

- Develop P&IDs, layouts and detailed manufacturing drawings using 2D and 3D CAD.

- Work with colleagues to resolve design issues arising during manufacture, installation, commissioning and operation.

- Apply good engineering practice to eliminate hazards and mitigate design risks, including responsibilities under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

- Prepare control philosophies, functional design specifications and equipment specification sheets.

- Own and support the UK Treatment team's CAD systems, processes, drawing standards and Vault system.

- Collaborate with project management, production, sales, procurement, QA, customers and suppliers.

- Attend customer and contract meetings and undertake site surveys and equipment inspections when required.

- Support projects requiring UK and international travel.

What We’re Looking For

A mechanical engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and solving complex engineering challenges.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- A mechanical engineering/design qualification at HND, degree level or equivalent.

- Strong mechanical design and problem-solving capability.

- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD.

- Experience interpreting technical specifications, engineering information and drawings.

- A good understanding of manufacturing and production methods.

- Excellent attention to detail and an organised approach to planning and prioritisation.

- Strong communication, presentation and technical reporting skills.

- The ability to coordinate engineering resources effectively across multiple project requirements.

Desirable experience:

- ATEX / IECEx

- HAZOP

- SAP

- Experience of water industry specifications such as WIMES.

Why This Role?

This is a role with genuine engineering ownership. You’ll make key design decisions, work across a broad range of water treatment technologies and see projects through from initial customer requirements into manufacture, installation and operation.

For someone who enjoys combining hands-on mechanical design, technical problem-solving, customer interaction and project responsibility, it offers a really interesting next step.
