Senior Security Engineer- Cloud /Sec Ops- fast moving venture

Salary: AUD 950 per day, + super
A leading fast moving venture environment back by a major bank is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for an initial 6 month contract likely to extend. This is a hybrid role- 50% in office.
The team supports seven ventures with different products, customers, technology stacks and operating models, covering cloud security, DevSecOps, security engineering, architecture, security operations, risk and advisory.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver cyber security initiatives across a varied portfolio of digital ventures.
- Strengthen cloud security controls across Azure environments mostly with some AWS.
- Support security operations, including detection engineering and improvements across Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender.
- Contribute to DevSecOps automation and manage security configuration through code.
- Work with identity and access technologies, including Microsoft Entra.
- Assess priorities, respond to changing demands and escalate risks constructively.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to provide practical security guidance.
- Work independently from broad direction while collaborating closely with a small, multidisciplinary team.
Key Skills / Experience:
- Senior-level, hands-on experience across security engineering,
- Strong cloud security - Microsoft security ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Defender, Sentinel and Entra.
- Strong Sec Ops background
- Experience with DevSecOps practices, security automation and infrastructure as code; Terraform exposure is highly regarded.
- Sound understanding of detection engineering, vulnerability management and security operations.
- Experience in fintech, financial services or another regulated environment- Highly Regarded
