Overview The Principal Software Engineering leader will play a pivotal role in software development activities, long-term initiative planning, and collaboration across the enterprise technology organization. Software Engineering is the cornerstone of scalable digital transformation across the Pepsico’s value chain. This leader will deliver the end-to-end software development experience, deliver high-quality software as part of the DevOps process, and have accountability for business operations. The leader in this role will provide the integration design by translating the business requirements into design documents and artifacts for the technical team for implementation. The role will ensure we deliver the best possible application integration solutions and ensure they generate value through cost savings or incremental business value. This leader will work closely with the product, enterprise and solution architecture, development, testing, and process engineering teams to develop new products and prioritize solution delivery across core business and technology priorities. Responsibilities Create the vision and guide a team of functional design engineers to build and support digital products and applications across core business and technology priorities Own the creation of functional design documents and field mapping documents by translating business requirements and architecture direction into detailed, implementation-ready design artifacts for technical teams. Drive partnerships with User Experience, Product Management, IT, Data & Analytics, Emerging Technology, Innovation, and Process Engineering teams, and outside vendors to deliver the digital product portfolio Develop and expand enterprise products capabilities through a customer-obsessed, services-driven digital solutions platform that leverages data and AI to deliver automated and personalized experiences Drive the design process with AI first mindset. Proactively leverage available AI capabilities for design work and explore potential AI possibilities to enable the team to deliver faster, stronger, and better. Develop software development strategy utilizing industry standards. Create roadmap and timing of implementation of the roadmap based on business requirements and strategy. Lead multi-discipline, high-performance work teams distributed across remote locations effectively. Build, manage, develop, and mentor a team of engineers. Interact with various peers across the company to build consensus for solution. Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the engineering initiatives to the stakeholders Interact with key business partners to recommend solutions that best meet the strategic needs of the business. Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $110,700 - $185,250. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually. Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement. Qualifications Minimum Qualification: A Bachelor / master’s degree in computer science, Engineering field preferred Minimum of 10 years of relevant software development and engineering management experience 8+ yrs experience in Java, Python, PHP, JavaScript (node.js), and/or other programming languages 8+ yrs of working knowledge of Database like RDBMS (*Oracle / MS SQL / MySQL), NoSQL (PostgreSQL, Couchbase) 5+ yrs experience with SQL and/order other query languages 4+ yrs of experience in web protocols (HTTP), web services and Restful API’s 4+ yrs of experience working with message brokers like Kafka or ActiveMQ 4+ yrs working on cloud native technologies and solutions (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) 4+ years’ experience managing diverse team of developers 4+ yrs of experience in working in Agile projects, with strong understanding in running Agile ceremony, and CI/CD process Experience applying AI development tools such as Copilot, Codex, and Claude to support software design and coding. Strong working knowledge of multi-tier and service-oriented architecture design Demonstrated experience driving best practices in code reviews, design reviews, and architecture reviews Qualities: Strong attention to detail and extremely well-organized Individual should be able to perform analysis of business and data requirements to define interface specifications, data flows, and source-to-target mappings between enterprise systems.
