About Wynn Al Marjan Island:
Wynn Al Marjan Island will be the first integrated resort in the UAE. Set to open in 2027, the resort will be located 50 miles from Dubai International Airport in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The resort will offer 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, a theater, and a beach club. It will feature multiple swimming and wading pools, water features, a five-star spa, a salon, a shopping promenade, and a celebrations and events center.
About the Position:
Wynn Al Marjan Island is currently seeking a Head Sommelier-Lobby Lounge to join the resort’s Beverage team.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:
- Lead and uphold Wynn Al Marjan Island values, wine program standards, and service excellence across the sommelier team.
- Act as a Wynn brand ambassador, building positive relationships with employees, members, guests, and business partners.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Wine Team and Membership Team to support projects, wine sales initiatives, and business growth opportunities.
- Oversee wine list development, team knowledge, and adherence to luxury wine service standards and safety requirements.
- Provide expert wine recommendations and personalized experiences tailored to members' and guests' preferences.
- Plan and lead wine tastings, educational seminars, team training sessions, and pre-shift briefings to enhance engagement and knowledge.
- Continuously develop wine expertise, support operational excellence, and perform additional leadership responsibilities as required.
- Provide clear and accurate information regarding opening hours, dress codes, location, menu options, availability, and venue policies.
- Ensure all guest-facing materials are clean, accurate, and appropriately presented.
- Coordinate closely with the restaurant management, service, culinary, bar, and security teams to support smooth daily operations.
About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Minimum age requirement is 21 years due to regulatory standards and alcohol service laws.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of sommelier experience in a luxury hotel, fine-dining restaurant, or integrated resort.
- Certified Sommelier accreditation from a recognized institution (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET) is strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairing principles.
- Proven ability to curate wine lists, manage cellar inventory, and maintain par levels.
- Demonstrated leadership in training and mentoring junior sommeliers and service staff.
- Strong understanding of wine storage, handling, and service techniques.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Skilled in conducting wine tastings, upselling premium selections, and enhancing guest experience.
- Proficient in POS systems and handling cash or card transactions.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills are considered an asset.
- Flexible with work schedules and able to lead shifts based on business needs.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for wine and hospitality.
