Senior Software Engineer - Python / Linux

Salary: $120k - $180k + Super
A leading company in the heart of Sydney is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their technical engineering team developing software used to test, validate and troubleshoot complex electronic hardware.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining Python software development, Linux systems, hardware integration and automated testing.
The role also offers the opportunity to transition into a team lead role.
You'll work closely with hardware and software engineers, developing tools and diagnostic applications that help identify hardware faults, verify system performance and support new products through development and into production.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Python programming skills, including object-oriented software design.
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, including debugging and system-level troubleshooting.
- Experience developing software tools for testing, diagnostics or hardware validation.
- Ability to investigate complex faults involving both hardware and software.
- Familiarity with communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, PCIe, etc.
- Technical mentoring or leading software development activities a plus
- Good communication skills
