Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Designer to support the Design & Engineering Department in developing structural design models, drawings, and engineering deliverables for fabrication and construction projects. The role involves preparing general arrangement drawings, structural details, supports, fabrication and erection drawings, and material take-offs while ensuring compliance with project specifications and engineering requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D structural models and prepare structural engineering drawings in accordance with project requirements.
- Prepare structural general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and structural support details.
- Prepare connection details, platform layouts, access structures, ladders, handrails, and other structural components as required.
- Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), bills of quantities (BOQs), and other project-related engineering documentation.
- Review engineering drawings, design inputs, project specifications, and client requirements before commencing design activities.
- Coordinate with Structural Engineers, other design disciplines, and project teams to resolve technical and design-related issues.
- Ensure drawings and models are accurate, consistent, and suitable for fabrication and construction.
- Incorporate engineering comments and client revisions into drawings and models.
- Identify and resolve clashes and discrepancies between structural models, drawings, and other discipline deliverables.
- Support fabrication and site teams by providing technical clarifications and updated drawings when required.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and design documentation in accordance with project document-control procedures.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with applicable project specifications, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Meet project deadlines and ensure timely submission of design deliverables.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant experience in structural design and detailing within Oil & Gas, EPC, fabrication, offshore, or heavy engineering projects.
- Experience in preparing structural GA, fabrication, erection, and support drawings.
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing, fabrication requirements, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with 3D modelling and structural design/detailing software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant 3D design software such as Tekla Structures, AVEVA, or other equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of material take-offs, bills of quantities, drawing revisions, and design document control.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
