ABOUT THE ROLE
A boutique law firm is seeking a senior attorney to lead and grow its bankruptcy and restructuring practice. The role combines a portable client practice with advising investment funds on troubled portfolio companies and supporting existing firm clients.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice and develop its client base.
- Advise investment funds on debt-side restructuring and workouts involving troubled portfolio companies.
- Handle in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.
- Manage approximately 300 to 400 hours annually of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice.
- Mentor and direct a junior associate with bankruptcy experience.
- Collaborate with attorneys serving the firm's existing clients.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 10 to 25 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor matters.
- A portable bankruptcy and restructuring practice with approximately $1 million to $1.5 million in annual collections, plus a track record of originating and managing client relationships.
- Experience with both in-court bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court workouts and restructurings, including corporate restructuring and debt-side advisory work.
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
- Ability to lead a practice, collaborate in a boutique environment, and grow a book of business.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: $250,000 to $300,000 annually, with additional compensation upside. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
Hybrid, based in New York, New York, with approximately three days per week in the office.
