POSITION OVERVIEW

Hussey Copper, a leading manufacturer of high-quality copper and copper alloy products, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive MRO Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Leetsdale, PA.

This position plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchasing of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials, equipment, and services.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on purchasing experience, strong supplier management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and operations teams. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of purchasing activities, understands the importance of material availability, and continuously identifies opportunities to improve procurement efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchasing and Procurement

-

Purchase maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials, industrial supplies, equipment, and services required to support manufacturing operations.

Create, process, and manage purchase orders using the company's ERP system.

Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, specifications, pricing, and delivery requirements.

Obtain competitive supplier quotations and evaluate vendors based on cost, quality, availability, and delivery performance.

Track open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

Support cost reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations, and purchasing process improvements.

Supplier Management and Inventory Support

Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Operations, and Storeroom teams to identify purchasing requirements.

Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment of critical maintenance and operating supplies.

-

Resolve purchasing discrepancies, supplier delivery issues, and invoice mismatches.

Assist in evaluating supplier performance and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and service.

Process Improvement and Compliance

-

Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and procurement documentation.

Ensure purchasing activities comply with established company policies and procedures.

Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cost management.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing and supply chain operations.

Generate and maintain purchasing reports as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

-

Minimum of 1 year of professional purchasing, buying, or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Hands-on experience creating, processing, and tracking purchase orders.

Knowledge of purchasing procedures, vendor communication, pricing, and order fulfillment.

Experience using ERP, purchasing, or inventory management systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

-

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ability to work onsite at our Leetsdale, PA facility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field.

Two or more years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

-

Experience purchasing MRO supplies, industrial equipment, maintenance parts, or manufacturing materials.

-

Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Infor, or similar ERP systems.

-

Experience with supplier negotiations, inventory management, and procurement cost reduction initiatives.

-

Background in metals manufacturing, steel, copper, heavy industrial equipment, or related industries.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates primarily in an office setting within an active manufacturing facility. The MRO Buyer will collaborate regularly with purchasing, maintenance, production, and warehouse personnel.

Occasional visits to the manufacturing floor or storeroom may be required. Employees must follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
