Position Overview
The P&C Designer III is a senior‑level role requiring a minimum of 8 years of electrical system design experience. This position provides technical and administrative supervision, coordinates drafting activities with minimal oversight, and contributes to the development of high‑quality protection and control (P&C) design packages.
This role is ideal for a designer who excels in producing detailed schematics, guiding drafting teams, adapting standard designs, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables across complex electrical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced P&C design principles and techniques to assigned tasks.
- Provide guidance, direction, and oversight to drafting personnel.
- Develop three‑line diagrams and detailed AC/DC schematic diagrams, including current circuits, potential circuits, protective relaying, control systems, and alarm systems.
- Produce point‑to‑point wiring diagrams, terminal block layouts, and equipment wiring diagrams.
- Calculate, quantify, specify, and verify material quality.
- Adapt standard designs to meet project‑specific requirements.
- Apply common industry practices and design standards.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Report progress and issues to the team supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Two‑year associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 8 years of electrical system design experience.
- Ability to respond to ad hoc tasks and shifting priorities.
- Basic understanding of power system protection and control systems.
- Strong mechanical design capabilities.
- Ability to apply standard design practices and evaluate constructability.
- Understanding of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation; knowledge of both is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry‑standard drafting practices.
