General Manager, Product & Marketing

About the role

Shape the future of Challenger’s retirement income solutions as General Manager, Product & Marketing. You’ll lead the strategy, development and commercial performance of our product portfolio - from identifying customer and market needs through to design, pricing, launch and ongoing optimisation - creating innovative solutions that deliver strong customer outcomes and sustainable growth.

Alongside this, you’ll lead our marketing function, bringing product, brand, customer insights and marketing together within one team to create stronger propositions and more effective customer and adviser engagement.

What you’ll do

Your focus will be on:

- leading Challenger’s retirement income product portfolio, setting its strategy and taking accountability for product development, commercial performance and ongoing evolution;

- owning the end-to-end product lifecycle, translating customer and market insights into propositions, leading product design and pricing, and overseeing launch and ongoing optimisation;

- identifying opportunities to evolve and innovate Challenger’s retirement solutions, including guaranteed lifetime income and broader propositions;

- driving revenue, FUM, profitability and growth through sound business and investment cases for new opportunities, while balancing customer outcomes, risk and regulatory requirements in product decision-making and governance;

- leading the marketing strategy across brand, customer acquisition, engagement and retention, using customer, adviser and market insights to keep activity closely connected to our product and growth priorities;

- partnering with Distribution and engaging with advisers, superannuation funds and other institutional partners, research houses and other key stakeholders; and

- leading and developing a high-performing team across product management, customer insights and marketing.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced senior leader with strong product and commercial capability, coupled with an understanding of how customer, distribution and marketing come together to drive growth.

You’ll bring:

- significant experience leading product, proposition or retirement solutions within financial services, with experience across retirement income, superannuation, wealth, life insurance or annuities highly relevant;

- strong end-to-end product experience, including developing product strategy and taking propositions from customer or market need through design, commercialisation, launch and ongoing management;

- a strong understanding of the Australian retirement and superannuation landscape, including the evolving needs of retirees, advisers and superannuation funds;

- commercial acumen and experience owning product performance, growth outcomes and investment or business cases;

- experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to bring different disciplines together around clear priorities and accountabilities;

- the ability to operate at an enterprise level and influence across senior internal and external stakeholder groups;

- sound understanding of product governance and the regulatory and risk considerations associated with financial services products;

- a genuinely customer-led approach, using customer, adviser and market insights to shape products and propositions; and

- strong judgement and the ability to navigate complex decisions where commercial, customer, regulatory and strategic considerations all need to be balanced.

Desirable

- experience with guaranteed lifetime income, annuities or other retirement income solutions would be particularly valuable;

- experience across brand, marketing or customer engagement would complement the product leadership and commercial capability you bring to the role.
