Who we are
With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.
What we need
Symbotic is seeking a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team within our Strategic Sourcing organization. The Buyer will support the Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing by managing day-to-day supplier and contract manufacturer activities. This role is responsible for purchase order execution, supplier communications, cost tracking, material availability, delivery performance, and coordination across engineering, planning, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted production of Symbotic systems.
What we do
Our global procurement organization partners closely with the business to build category strategies that drive competitive advantage. We own strategic sourcing and supplier agreements end-to-end — from commercial and pricing structures through supplier relationship management — while our sourcing operations ensure disciplined execution at scale. Our scope spans the full lifecycle: procuring robotics, structural, and automation components at the core of our systems, sourcing third-party partners for installation and deployment, and ensuring robust aftersales support once systems are live — all in service of Symbotic's commitment to reimagining the supply chain and transforming the movement of goods through intelligent automation, while bringing unparalleled value to the customer. Every decision is grounded in a relentless focus on total cost of ownership, balancing speed and rigor to drive the best outcomes for the business.
What you'll do
- Manage purchase orders, order acknowledgements, supplier delivery commitments, and day-to-day communications with assigned suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Monitor supplier on-time delivery, lead times, shortages, material availability, and escalations to support production requirements.
- Analyze demand forecasts, inventory levels, and supplier capacity, expediting critical components and coordinating resolution of material shortages.
- Track supplier pricing, quotations, and cost changes while supporting commercial negotiations and cost reduction initiatives.
- Coordinate engineering changes, new part introductions, and product transitions with suppliers while partnering with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Strategic Sourcing.
- Support supplier performance reviews by reporting on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness metrics, and maintain sourcing and supplier data within ERP systems.
- Assist with RFQs, supplier benchmarking, and sourcing activities across mechanical, electrical, motion control, battery, and custom manufactured components.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, EMS providers, or industrial hardware suppliers.
- Knowledge of mechanical components, electronics, motors, batteries, cable assemblies, or custom fabricated components.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms, along with strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and supplier relationship management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
