Simulation Content Designer (3 month contract)

Go1 Australia · Australia · remote

At Go1, we’re on a mission to help organizations deliver learning and development in more relevant, timely, and effective ways. From a small startup to now a global brand - we’ve grown by solving hard problems, embracing ambiguity, and never standing still.

If you thrive on change, get energy from big, complex challenges, and are excited to grow fast alongside smart, ambitious people, then Go1 might be exactly what you’re looking for. We offer autonomy with accountability, space to experiment, and the opportunity to shape solutions that impact millions of learners worldwide. We don’t have all the answers — and that’s the point. We figure it out together. Every line of code, every conversation, every bold idea helps move us closer to our mission: to enable individuals, organizations, and society to progress. There’s still so much to build — and even more to discover. Go there with us...

This role will help us explore how realistic simulations can make applied workplace capability more visible. Completing a course doesn’t always show how someone will respond when a real workplace situation gets difficult. Go1 is developing realistic workplace simulations to help organisations see how people apply their judgement in practice. We’re looking for a Simulation Content Designer to create the scenarios, conversations and assessment models at the centre of that experience. You’ll turn policies, obligations and capability needs into simulations that feel believable, assess behaviour fairly and give customers useful insight. This is a 3 month contractor role based in Australia.

This is a hands-on design role at the intersection of learning experience design, behavioural assessment and AI-powered product development. The capability is still emerging, so you’ll help work out what good looks like as well as produce the simulations themselves. You’ll partner with Product, Research, Engineering and subject-matter experts to shape simulations from the initial learning need through to testing and review. That means:

- Turning workplace policies, obligations and capability needs into realistic scenarios.

-

Designing each simulation’s context, objective, relationships, conversation flow and outcomes.

-

Defining behaviours that can be observed and assessed, including what different levels of performance look like.

-

Building scoring rubrics that assess judgement fairly while allowing for reasonable differences in how people respond.

-

Shaping avatar behaviour, including tone, resistance and emotional responses as a conversation develops.

-

Running repeated spoken tests to find where a simulation breaks down or produces unreliable results.

-

Diagnosing whether an issue sits in the scenario, learner context, rubric, avatar behaviour or product configuration.

-

Working with Product and Research to clarify what each simulation should reveal about learner behaviour.

-

Coordinating reviews with Legal, HR, cybersecurity and other subject-matter experts.

-

Helping establish reusable design patterns and quality standards for future simulations.

-

Communicating your design decisions, risks and trade-offs clearly.

What you'll bring:

You have experience in instructional design, learning experience design, scenario-based learning or behavioural assessment. You know how to make a workplace scenario feel plausible, and how to assess an open-ended response against clear, observable behaviours.

-

Experience designing learning or assessment involving realistic workplace behaviour.

-

Experience in compliance, HR, workplace conduct, cybersecurity or a related area.

-

Strong scenario-writing skills and an ear for nuanced, believable dialogue.

-

The ability to create scoring guidance that is clear, fair and useful.

-

Confidence testing and refining spoken or conversational experiences.

-

Sound judgement when reviewing AI-generated content and assessment guidance.

-

The ability to work independently while staying closely connected to Product, Research, Engineering and subject-matter experts.

Nice to haves:

It would be helpful to have worked with simulations, role plays, immersive or conversational learning, AI-assisted learning or assessment products, LLM prompts, evaluation criteria or AI quality assurance. Experience in B2B SaaS, learning technology or enterprise product development is also useful.

You like solving the design problem behind the content: what should happen, what behaviour matters, and how can we tell whether the experience is working? You’re comfortable with the fact that an AI-powered simulation may sound convincing while still being unrealistic, unfair or difficult to assess. You’re willing to test, question and refine the work until it’s useful to learners and customers.
