Platform Engineer

Lunar · Aarhus, Denmark · hybrid

Banking hasn't changed much in decades. We're changing that. One product at a time.

Lunar is a Nordic challenger bank building the future of financial life with AI at the core. Our engineers, designers, and product people work on problems that actually matter. Making money simpler, smarter, and more rewarding for a million of registered users across the Nordics.

Fully licensed and founded in 2015, with offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm.

We move fast, we build with purpose, and we're just getting started.

As our new Platform Engineer you’ll join Esa, our Developer Enablement squad based in Aarhus, reporting to Jonas, working to build the invisible resilience that lets our product squads ship faster and more securely. You’ll be one of five hands-on engineers running our platform as a product. You’ll take operational friction off our feature teams so they can focus on shipping great products.

What will you do?

- Define and enforce patterns for resilient, cloud-native microservices that are observable, cost-efficient, and easy to maintain.

- Run, troubleshoot, and optimise the open source and cloud-native systems our platform runs on, keeping it highly available and reliable for the business.

- Own the lifecycle of our high-availability Kubernetes clusters in AWS, including the upgrade cycle every four months.

- Evolve our asynchronous messaging backbone and critical database systems for performance and reliability. You’ll also help shape our next-generation environments, including sovereign cloud and AI-optimised infrastructure operations.

- Solve distributed systems challenges in a highly regulated environment, treating security and compliance as engineering constraints to design around, not roadblocks.

What are we looking for in you?

- 3+ years in a Platform, SRE, or DevOps role, ideally working with Terraform or a similar IaC tool.

- Hands-on experience running workloads in Kubernetes and managing core AWS services.

- Practical experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including basic performance tuning and managing RDS instances.

- Hands-on experience with asynchronous messaging patterns and managing message queues, particularly RabbitMQ.

- A habit of making systems diagnosable, not just running, through solid observability and a focus on production reliability.

What you get.

- 4 days in the office. We're a team that builds together, thinks together, and moves together. Showing up is part of how we work.

- State of the art equipment. The newest computer, monitor, mouse, and keyboard. We want you to do your best work without anything slowing you down.

- Pension, health insurance, and enhanced parental leave. From your financial future to your family moments. We've got you covered.
