Job Summary:

Mercer Advisors is a people business, and our advisors are the people. When an advisor has a great day, clients feel it. When an advisor spends that day on 20 clicks per task, status calls, and workarounds, clients feel that too. We're rebuilding how our Platform organization works — and we need someone who owns the advisor experience end to end.

This is not a feature-owner role. This is the person who defines what a great day looks like for a Mercer Advisors advisor, then builds the roadmap, the partnerships, and the discipline to deliver it. Aspen is the backbone of how advisors work, and it's also where we hear the most friction: too many steps, unclear handoffs, and not enough lift in productivity or telemetry.

You'll own two roadmaps. One is a joint roadmap with Avantos, our Aspen platform partner. The other is the Mercer Advisors-specific roadmap for what makes us different. You'll report to the Chief Platform Officer, work side by side with a named business lead from problem definition through launch, and be the single point of accountability for whether advisors get time back to spend with clients.

Essential Job Functions for this role include:

ADVISOR EXPERIENCE VISION AND ROADMAP

Define what a great day looks like for an advisor, then work backward into product. Own the Advisory Experience roadmap — routines and huddles, dashboards, accumulation and share of wallet, action plans, team configuration and staffing, and Platform NPS.

Make trade-offs visible. Run structured intake, size work with T-shirt sizing, and say no clearly when the answer is no. Business stakeholders should know how to submit a request, what happens next, and why something moved up or down.

AVANTOS PARTNERSHIP AND JOINT ROADMAP

Serve as Mercer Advisors' named internal owner for the Avantos relationship. Hold the vendor accountable and represent our interests in their roadmap conversations.

Create and run a joint roadmap with Avantos — shared priorities, clear dependencies, and regular steering committees. Decide with your team what we build, buy, or partner on, and know where Avantos product direction helps us and where we need to push.

MERCER ADVISORS DIFFERENTIATION IN ASPEN

Build the internal roadmap for what makes us different, including AI-enabled workflows (Ask Aspen, meeting prep, recommended actions, custom skills), permissions and field-level security, and advisor performance and compensation views.

Reduce clicks and handoffs on routine advisor tasks, starting with the highest-volume actions. Work with the Platform teams across Aspen, Client Portal, Relationship Expansion, and Investment Platform so advisors get one consistent experience across Aspen, Salesforce, Orion, and Box.

OUTCOMES AND DATA

Make Advisor NPS real: define it, measure it, and explain what moves it.

Lead the squad in measuring success through a shared set of client and advisor outcomes — such as client touchpoints, referrals, action plan coverage, advisor capacity and productivity, and team retention — baselined within 90 days and live on a dashboard.

Require an impact hypothesis before every build and a measurement plan before every launch. Follow through to adoption, then look back and learn.

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP

Work as one team with the business, not a handoff model. Spend real time with advisors, relationship managers, and clients — go to the meetings where the work happens.

Partner closely with Client Team to prioritize the roadmap and deliver the highest-value impact.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

Lead a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers, data, BI, and enablement professionals, with shared accountability for outcomes and craft. Coach product managers to shape strategy, not take orders.

Build a culture of candor, follow-through, and learning from mistakes. Our teams are strong, they care about the firm, and they're proud of the work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- 12+ years in product management, with 5+ years leading product teams (a senior director candidate may have 8+ years, with 3+ years of leadership) — ideally in a workflow-heavy product for internal or professional users

- Track record of managing strategic vendor or platform partnerships — you've shaped a joint roadmap, not just received one

- Empathy for operators — you can sit with an advisor, watch them work, and see the real problem under the request

- Strong command of data — you set metrics, baseline them, and use them to make decisions

-

- Comfort with AI-enabled product work — governance, adoption, and measuring real productivity gains

- Proven ability to build and run intake and prioritization — you can defend a roadmap and say no with clear reasoning

- Strong cross-functional relationship builder — you earn trust across teams without relying on authority

- Proactive communicator — you surface what isn't working with candor, and bring a recommended path forward

- Willingness to disagree and commit — you push back hard in the room, then back the decision

- Experience with Salesforce, Orion, or Avantos-style workflow platforms a plus, not a requirement

- Experience in an RIA, a custodian, or an advisor-facing product at scale a plus, not a requirement
