Technical Writer
KCC is an employee-owned, technology-driven company in the HVAC&R industry, developing products and solutions to meet today’s rapidly changing needs for greater efficiency and electrification. KCC has multiple divisions: construction, local HVAC&R service, and the design/manufacturing of commercial HVAC&R equipment. This position is for the design and manufacturing division, which includes rooftop units, air handlers, desiccant dehumidification, refrigerant and hot/chilled hydronic systems.

Summary:
As a Technical Writer you will create detailed literature that is clear, concise, and thorough for internal and customer-facing uses. You will work closely with multiple teams within NPD, Product Engineering, Controls, Quality, Field Services, and Project Management to document complex information and transform into user-friendly content as necessary. Your work plays a vital role in keeping the latest information on our products’ features, controls, and troubleshooting readily available and up to date. This role is ideal for someone with strong writing skills with an interest in learning new topics, sometimes complex, and turning them into useful documents.

Essential Functions or Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including service guides, installation and operation manuals, and product datasheets.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy of literature content on a regular basis.
- Ensure internal documentation is organized, archived as needed, and accessible to all teams.
- Maintain the log of field modifications and update job submittal documentation accordingly.
- Develop style guides and ensure new/updated materials adhere to these requirements.
- Stay up to date with the latest controls releases and products at KCC.
Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements:
- Degree (or 2+ years experience) in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering or Manufacturing Technology or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer literacy and Microsoft Office Suite experience (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Proficient user of Adobe and similar editing programs.
Prefer:
- Experience writing for technical equipment, HVAC industry is a plus.
- Experience being in a manufacturing environment; comfortable going to production floor if necessary to review units/materials.
- Familiarity with version control and document management systems.
Safety/Physical requirements:
· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
· Fluent in English.
· Requires bending, stooping, and standing.
· Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
· Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
