About this role

Noveon Magnetics is seeking a hands-on EHS Specialist to lead and support occupational health and safety initiatives in an advanced manufacturing environment. This position is primarily focused on employee safety, OSHA compliance, hazard recognition, risk reduction, and building a proactive safety culture. Environmental compliance responsibilities are secondary.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Environmental, Health and Safety potentially including some experience in plant operations and OpX programs and will engage on the manufacturing floor, partnering with operations, engineering, and maintenance to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Promoting a positive safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, and leadership.

• Conducting safety inspections, audits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.

• Leading incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and implementing corrective actions.

• Developing and maintaining OSHA-compliant safety programs, procedures, and training.

• Monitoring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. • Supporting industrial hygiene, PPE, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and ergonomics programs.

• Evaluating machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, and fall protection.

• Maintaining OSHA injury and illness records (300, 300A, and 301 logs). • Participating in emergency preparedness, contractor safety, and Management of Change (MOC) activities.

• Supporting hazardous waste management, chemical safety, SDS management, and other environmental compliance activities.

Manufacturing Environment:

This position supports operations involving:

• Rare earth materials and powder metallurgy

• Combustible metal dust

• High-temperature furnaces and thermal processing

• Hydraulic presses, CNC machining, robotics, and automation

• Industrial chemicals and compressed gases

• Powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment

We are Looking for Someone Who:

• Has a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or other technical disciplines including 5+ years of progressive EHS experience ; or • Associate degree in a related field with applicable manufacturing safety experience; or

• High school diploma (or equivalent) with 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or other high-hazard industrial environments.

• Equivalent combinations of education, military service, certifications, and experience will be considered.

• Possesses a minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.

• Can demonstrate a strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standards.

• Has experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, JHAs, safety training, and OSHA compliance.

• Has a working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, PPE, and OSHA recordkeeping.

• Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

• NFPA 70, CSP, SMP, ASP, OHST, or CIH certification.

• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry.

• Experience in metals manufacturing, powder metallurgy, oil refineries or chemical/petro-chemical plants, additive and/or advanced materials, battery, aerospace, or semiconductor manufacturing.

• Experience with ISO 45001/14001, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• ISO-45001/14001 Auditor Certifications

• NFPA Certifications

Work Environment:

• Able to move up to 15lbs.

• Can wear PPE.

• Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes. • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
