Job Summary
To ensure a safe and healthy working environment by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices within the heavy machinery workshop and associated work sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily workshop inspections to identify unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, and non-compliance with safety procedures.
- Report unsafe acts, near-misses, and incidents; assist in investigations and corrective action follow-up.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority for unsafe conditions and recommend appropriate control measures before work resumes.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection checklists, and incident logs.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and HSE training.
- Assist in fire safety checks, emergency equipment inspections, and evacuation drills.
- Support permit-to-work systems for hot work, confined space entry, and lifting operations.
- Promote a safety-first culture among workshop staff and mechanics.
- Assist senior HSE staff in audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance checks.
- Ensure heavy machinery (forklifts, cranes, hoists, lathes, welding equipment) is operated and maintained per safety standards.
- Monitor compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures during equipment maintenance.
- Monitor proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or an equivalent recognized HSE qualification is preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in heavy machinery workshops.
- Working knowledge of applicable UAE labour and occupational safety requirements, relevant local authority regulations and OSHAD Membership.
- Knowledge of Hindi and/or Arabic will be considered an added advantage
