Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Operations Technology (OT) Systems Manager, the OT Systems Administrator manages back-end operational systems and platforms, including CRM security, DAP (Data Analytics Platform on Azure), and file storage. The role supports MCE’s cybersecurity, VPP data access, responsible AI use, Microsoft platforms, and other critical technical needs.

The OT Systems Administrator configures, administers, monitors, and optimizes enterprise AI and Cloud platforms and applications, including security, access, performance, governance, and integrations. This role also supports system management, compliance, and the secure operation of MCE’s OT infrastructure, including cloud data storage, IaaS, PaaS, computer systems, and servers.

MCE offers a remote/hybrid work environment. This position requires regular in-office work at either our San Rafael or Concord, CA office. Candidates must live within commuting distance of an MCE office.

Key Responsibilities: Operations Technology Systems Administrator

- Maintain and optimize CRM security, DAP/Azure Cloud, file storage, cloud infrastructure, servers, and other operational platforms to ensure secure, reliable, and effective performance.

- Implement and maintain cybersecurity strategies, controls, policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect MCE systems and data and support confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

- Support audits, compliance requirements, internal security policies, and collaboration with IT, Legal, and OT leadership.

- Configure, administer, monitor, and optimize enterprise AI platforms and AI-enabled applications, including user access, security controls, governance, integrations, performance metrics, and responsible AI practices.

- Support secure data access protocols for dispatchable Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and ensure efficient, protected data flow.

- Evaluate the security and operational fit of new and existing software, hardware, and cloud technology solutions to ensure they meet Technology and Analytics, Operations Technology, and agency requirements.

- Administer and Implement changes in Identity management platforms such as Okta and Entra.

- Identify and implement opportunities for system optimization, redesign, security improvement, and process improvement across MCE’s technology solutions.

- Collaborate with departments and internal stakeholders to align technology initiatives, tools, and operational improvements with agency goals.

- Manage system engineering responsibilities across assigned systems and infrastructure as needed.

- Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, cloud technologies, AI practices, and other relevant technical trends through training and professional development.

- Support MCE strategic direction through secure, scalable, and effective technology operations.

Minimum Qualifications for Operations Technology Systems Administrator

Required Skills

- Advanced CRM, DAP (Data Analytics Platform), and file storage systems.

- Advanced Microsoft Azure and other Microsoft platforms.

- Proficiency with Identity Management Platforms (Okta, Entra ID).

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.

- A minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience providing support of computer applications, operating systems, hardware, databases, security, and end-users, which included the design of systems, data and communication architecture with 99.999% availability.

- Preferred Certifications in any of the following Azure administrators, Azure Security Engineer, COMPTIA Sec. A Plus- Azure data fundamentals, Azure AI fundamentals

Knowledge of

- Cloud based hardware, software, and networking protocols are utilized in standalone and integrated data communications systems.

- Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.

- Familiarity with audit processes and compliance requirements.

- Project management methodologies and tools.

- Industry trends and emerging technologies.

- Basic office productivity software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.

- Installation and configuration of standard business and administrative software, including web-based application software.

- Information security and data quality standards.

- Parallel, secure, and redundant operations between data centers including back up and disaster recovery.

Ability To

- Communicate effectively with MCE staff, clients, and vendors regarding hardware and software issues.

- Prepare clear, accurate, and concise documentation, reports, and other written materials.

- Manage multiple priorities and quickly adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

- Take responsibility and work independently, as well as coordinate team efforts.

- Be thorough and detail oriented.

- Demonstrate patience, tact, and courtesy.

MCE offers a competitive compensation package based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, along with generous benefits, including fully paid health insurance premiums, parental leave, dependent care subsidies, student loan repayment, and an employee wellness program. Starting Salary Range: Operations Technology Systems Administrator $132,105 - $172,838
