Site Supervisor

Downer · Brisbane, QLD, Australia

The Opportunity

New year. New project. New challenge.

If 2027 feels like the right time to make a move, this could be a pretty good way to start it.

We’re looking for a Site Supervisor with a strong mechanical and piping background to join our Water team, taking the lead on the mechanical scope of a brownfield sewage treatment plant upgrade.

This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your days sitting behind a desk. You’ll be out on site, close to the work, overseeing subcontractors and making sure the mechanical and piping package is delivered safely, properly and to programme.

Your day will include running pre-starts, managing daily SIMOPS, keeping a close eye on subcontractor safety and quality, coordinating mechanical and piping works alongside civil and electrical disciplines, planning upcoming activities and keeping the project team across progress on site.

You’ll work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers and client operations, making sure potential clashes are picked up early, resources are where they need to be and the job keeps moving.

It’s a permanent, local opportunity and a chance to start the new year taking ownership of a genuine project delivery role within Downer’s water infrastructure business.

About You

We’re not just looking for someone who has held the title of Supervisor. We want someone who knows mechanical construction, understands what good looks like on site and is comfortable taking ownership of the work in front of them.

You’ll ideally bring:

- A mechanical trade background with hands-on knowledge of mechanical equipment and pipework installation

- Strong experience supervising mechanical and piping works on construction projects

- Experience managing subcontractors and holding them accountable for safety, quality and delivery

- Previous exposure to sewage treatment plants, water infrastructure or other brownfield/process environments

- Confidence coordinating works around other disciplines including civil and electrical

- Experience with pre-starts, SIMOPS, high-risk activities, permits and site-based risk management

- Strong planning skills and the ability to look ahead, spot potential issues and adjust the plan

- A practical, level-headed approach to solving problems when things don’t go exactly to plan

- The confidence to work with project teams, subcontractors and client operations while keeping communication clear and straightforward.

You’ll also need a Construction White Card, open Driver’s Licence, relevant Trade Certificate, current First Aid, Working at Heights, Confined Space and Gas Test Atmospheres. Dogging and Rigging, Forklift, Telehandler and EWP tickets would be well regarded.
