ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead and grow multiple product engineering teams at a mission-driven K-12 education technology company. Reporting to the CTO, you will guide product engineering strategy and help schools improve how they plan schedules for teachers and students.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Own multiple engineering teams and drive product delivery across scheduling, reporting, and elementary school experiences.

- Stay hands-on early through coding, code reviews, and pairing, with an expected initial balance of roughly half coding and half leadership that shifts toward leadership over time.

- Make and guide architectural decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.

- Partner with product and other cross-functional teams to set goals and align engineering priorities with business outcomes.

- Deliver valuable product improvements ahead of the annual school scheduling season, including AI-enabled capabilities.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- At least 3 years of engineering management experience, including managing multiple teams and scaling teams; experience managing other managers is valuable.

- Strong backend architecture and design skills, with the ability to assess trade-offs and remain hands-on.

- Experience with TypeScript or Python, AWS, and MongoDB; familiarity with React is also relevant.

- Experience in K-12 education technology or related learning and teaching fields, with a track record of connecting technical decisions to product and business outcomes.

- Comfort working in a fast-growing environment with ambiguity and cross-functional responsibilities.

- Ability to travel for company retreats and occasional business trips.
