We're looking for an experienced Integration & Application Architect to play a key role in defining and governing the architecture standards, roadmaps and target-state designs that support this transformation. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, you'll provide architectural leadership across our application and integration domains, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, compliant and aligned to our strategic objectives.
About the RoleAs our Integration & Application Architect, you'll be responsible for establishing and maintaining the organisation's application and integration architecture capability across both project delivery and business-as-usual initiatives. You'll work closely with technology leaders, delivery teams and business stakeholders to develop architecture standards, guide solution design, evaluate emerging technologies and ensure governance practices support sustainable business growth. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic technology decisions and contribute to enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Integration and Application Architecture roadmaps, target-state designs, reference architectures and architectural standards.
- Provide architectural governance and oversight across project and operational initiatives, ensuring solution alignment and compliance with enterprise architecture principles.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into practical, scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
- Review and govern internal and partner solution designs, ensuring consistency, reusability and alignment with approved architecture patterns.
- Define platform ownership, lifecycle management and performance expectations across application and integration services.
- Embed security, privacy, risk and regulatory requirements into architecture decisions, including alignment with APRA CPS 230 and CPS 234 obligations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends and innovation opportunities to support business outcomes and technology modernisation.
- Act as a trusted subject matter expert, providing advice, mentorship and knowledge sharing across architecture, engineering and delivery teams.
About YouYou are a collaborative and commercially minded architect who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery. You have demonstrated experience designing and governing application and integration architectures across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments and can confidently engage technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
You'll bring:
- Experience in Integration Architecture, Application Architecture, Enterprise Architecture or a closely related discipline.
- Proficiency in application architecture patterns and practices, including monolithic, web-scale, composable and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong knowledge of modern integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven architecture, microservices, ESB and cloud-native solutions.
- Experience establishing architecture standards, governance frameworks and design principles across enterprise environments.
- Experience working across cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, with exposure to hybrid technology landscapes.
- Experience with core insurance platforms and applications, such as Guidewire.
- Experience delivering within high-risk, fast-paced enterprise environments and large-scale transformation programs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, communicate and translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively and working under direction where required.
- Exposure to insurance, regulated industries or environments with strong risk, security and compliance obligations will be highly regarded.
- Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, with certifications such as TOGAF, Azure or AWS considered advantageous.
