AYN

Senior Online/Network Programmer

Gameloft · Paris, IDF, France · hybrid

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

Main challenge

We’re building a networked game, and that means going deep into the engine’s low-level networking layer. You’ll join the project right from preproduction to lay the network foundations of a game designed multiplayer from day one, not bolted on afterwards.

What it means on a daily basis

You’ll be the person who turns networking from a constraint into a solid foundation for the whole team. Concretely, you will:

- Design and implement the game’s network architecture in Unreal Engine, working directly with the Game Programmers (GPP), and define the Gameplay team’s networking strategy through concrete features

- Set and hit network performance targets (latency, bandwidth, stability) using Unreal Insights

- Own network TRC compliance on every console and flag certification blockers before they happen

- Set up continuous integration and automated network testing, and keep it running

- Train the GPPs on network best practices, become their go-to person on the subject, and document your technical choices for the GPPs and QA

What success will look like

You’re fully embedded in the team and you understand the game’s networking end to end. You’ve already rolled out your first network recommendations and training sessions for the GPPs.

Who you would be working with

You’ll report to François Karr, our Technical Director and work daily with people from across the studio:

- The whole GPP team

- Our Online Lead

- Our Studio Technical Coordinator

- The Game Design team and QA

Team rituals: 3 stand-ups a week, plus dedicated syncs per theme or feature.

Your recruitment journey

Our process takes place in four steps:

- First interview: with our HR Manager

- Test: a CodinGames exercise

- Second interview: with our Technical Director and our Studio Technical Coordinator

- Third interview: with our Game Manager and our Studio Manager

Where this role can take you

By becoming the studio’s go-to person for networking on Unreal, you’ll build a rare, highly sought-after expertise in the industry, with real potential to grow into a technical lead role.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

To hit the ground running, you’ll need a solid technical base in Unreal and in networking. Here is what we’re looking for:

- Strong command of Unreal Engine, with hands-on experience in networked gameplay programming (replication, RPCs, prediction)

- Knowledge of Unreal’s Gameplay building blocks; experience with the Gameplay Ability System is a real plus

- Experience with console certification (TRC) and its networking requirements

- Comfort with network profiling and simulation tools (Unreal Insights, Clumsy or equivalents)

- Professional French and English

WHO YOU ARE

Beyond the technical skills, this role is about how you work with others and how you approach problems. We’re looking for someone who is:

- A natural teacher: you can make complex technical topics easy to grasp

- Autonomous and solution-driven: you dig into a problem until it’s solved

- Open to feedback and comfortable questioning your own choices

- Curious about low-level systems; an interest in physics (Chaos) is a plus

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

This is a rare chance to shape the network of a game from day one, with a lot of ownership and a front-row seat at the crossroads of several teams. Here is what you’ll get:

- A founding role on the network of a game built from preproduction onward

- Real technical autonomy, from prototype to certification

- A role at the crossroads of several teams (GPP, Game Design, QA)

- Health insurance, RTT days, meal vouchers, and Gameloft’s studio perks
