The Role
Walter Lilly is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Science & Higher Education division, supporting a long-established framework in Weybridge.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a successful framework where Walter Lilly maintains a permanent site presence, delivering a steady stream of small to medium-sized projects of varying values. The role offers a blend of tendering, cost management and commercial support across multiple live projects within a collaborative and well-established environment.
We are looking for a commercially astute surveyor who can work independently, respond quickly to client requirements and build strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and stakeholders. Experience of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial aspects of projects delivered through an established framework agreement.
- Prepare cost plans, estimates, and assist with tender submissions - often within short timescales.
- Monitor project costs, variations and changes, ensuring accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
- Produce monthly cost reports, valuations and commercial updates for internal and client review.
- Assess and manage subcontractor procurement, packages, valuations and final accounts.
- Support project teams with commercial advice and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective supply chain partners.
- Identify opportunities to broaden and strengthen the local subcontractor network.
- Ensure commercial processes are robust, accurate and aligned with company procedures.
- Work closely with operational teams to respond effectively to changing client requirements and project priorities.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry.
- Able to manage multiple workstreams and deliver accurate commercial outputs to tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of cost management, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Experience administering or working under NEC forms of contract is desirable.
- Commercially aware, organised and detail-oriented, with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Confident communicator who can build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and subcontractors.
- Comfortable working independently while remaining a collaborative member of a wider project team.
- Knowledge of the local supply chain and subcontractor market would be beneficial.
- Looking for a long-term role within a stable, supportive business where quality delivery and client relationships are valued.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience.
