Based in New York, the Litigation Case Manager will lead large, complex litigation matters in federal and state courts nationwide, including securities, corporate governance, stockholder, and complex commercial disputes. A significant portion of the role supports matters in the Delaware Court of Chancery, including expedited deal litigation and fiduciary duty disputes, and requires close coordination with Delaware counsel. The individual will support matters from inception through trial and appeal, must be effective in client-facing situations, and must be able to manage multiple workstreams on compressed timelines.

This role reports to the Associate Director of Paralegal Services and the Manager, Paralegal Services.

Responsibilities include:

- Performing all elements of litigation case management, including file management, discovery, motion practice, hearings, trial, and appeal.

- Overseeing and managing a sizable caseload of complex litigation matters in federal and state courts, including securities class actions, stockholder derivative suits, corporate governance disputes, and complex commercial litigation, ensuring all court deadlines and milestones are met.

- Managing matters pending in the Delaware Court of Chancery, including expedited deal litigation, fiduciary duty and stockholder class and derivative actions, Section 220 books-and-records demands and actions, Section 225 actions, appraisal proceedings, and advancement and indemnification disputes.

- Tracking and managing compressed and expedited schedules, including TRO and preliminary injunction proceedings, ensuring all court deadlines and milestones are met.

- Serving as primary liaison with Delaware counsel on filing logistics, including coordinating the preparation, finalization, and e-filing of submissions through File & ServeXpress.

- Ensuring all filings comply with the Court of Chancery Rules, Chancery practice guidelines, and chambers-specific procedures, including public and confidential filing requirements and redacted public versions under Court of Chancery Rule 5.1.

- Supporting appeals in federal and state appellate courts, including the Delaware Supreme Court.

- Preparing and coordinating e-filings through CM/ECF and state e-filing systems, ensuring compliance with local rules and judge-specific procedures.

- Implementing and maintaining case calendaring systems to track filings, discovery, and court deadlines.

- Preparing court filings, including proofreading, cite-checking, and compiling declarations, affidavits, exhibits, appendices, compendiums, and tables of authorities.

- Conducting factual and legal research, including docket research in federal and Delaware courts, and organizing findings for attorney review.

- Managing communications and document transmission with local and Delaware counsel, co-counsel, opposing counsel, experts, and vendors.

- Leading discovery, deposition, and trial preparation support, including management of e-discovery platforms such as Relativity, privilege logs, and trial exhibit and demonstrative preparation.

- Attending hearings and trials, including in Wilmington, and supporting the trial team on site as required.

- Utilizing existing systems and developing new processes to organize, collect, store, and retrieve large volumes of paper and electronic case materials.

- Coordinating and overseeing the work of junior paralegals and support staff on large matters, including training on Chancery practice and procedure.

- Liaising between case team attorneys and support staff to ensure case needs are met efficiently and accurately.

- Preparing and submitting timekeeping reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

- Significant substantive knowledge of litigation procedures, terminology, and documentation, including federal and state rules of civil procedure and in-depth knowledge of Delaware Court of Chancery rules, practice, and procedure.

- Working knowledge of securities and corporate law concepts relevant to stockholder litigation, including class and derivative actions, fiduciary duty, books-and-records, and appraisal proceedings.

- Hands-on experience with CM/ECF and File & ServeXpress.

- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong organizational, facilitation, and collaboration skills across multiple teams, offices, and outside counsel.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities in an expedited, deadline-driven environment.

- Strong initiative, critical-thinking skills, and ability to exercise independent judgment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe.

- Proficiency with document management systems (e.g., iManage) and collaboration tools.

- Proficiency with e-discovery databases, including Relativity.

- Ability to learn and utilize new software quickly.

Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree required.

- Certificate from an ABA-approved Paralegal training program preferred.

- PMP certification preferred.

- 7–10+ years of experience as a paralegal or case manager, preferably in an Am Law 100 firm, with a focus on complex securities or commercial litigation and at least 3 years of substantial experience on matters in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $160,000 - $185,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
