Manager - Events, Partnerships & Experiences

The Manager, Events, Partnerships and Experiences supports the development and delivery of cultural, culinary, retail, sports and community programming across Union Market District in Washington, DC. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Events & Experiences, this role translates the district's programming strategy into well-organized events, activations and partnerships that strengthen retailer participation, community engagement and revenue opportunities.

The Manager serves as a key liaison to Union Market District retail partners and external partners, with particular responsibility for community programming throughout Union Market District, such as in-store activations, pop-up experiences, sponsor-supported programs and sports-related events. The role also supports venue sales and major events across Union Market District venues, including Dock 5, AutoShop and La Cosecha, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Venue Sales & Operations. The Manager provides project management, administrative support and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful execution of district programming and venue sales.

This position requires strong relationship-building, project management and organizational skills. The role partners cross-functionally with Marketing, Retail Operations, Leasing, venue teams and external partners and requires a willingness to work on-site during nights and weekends as programming requires.

RESPONSIBILITIES

District Programming and Event Execution

- Ensure operational excellence and consistent alignment with defined Union Market District goals.

- Collaborate with the Senior Manager – Events & Experiences to execute Union Market District's annual programming calendar and deliver assigned recurring programs, new activations and signature events.

- Provide on-site leadership for assigned programs and resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining a strong guest, retailer and partner experience.

- Develop and execute consumer-facing pop-up activations that are appropriate for the district and can be repeated or expanded when successful.

- Coordinate with Retail Operations, Security, Facilities, Marketing, Leasing and other internal teams to confirm responsibilities, deadlines and operational requirements.

- Maintain event timelines, calendars, run-of-show documents and departmental trackers to support planning and execution across programs and events.

- Coordinate contracts, invoices, certificates of insurance and other event-related documentation.

- Provide Marketing with timely and accurate event details, partner information, retailer participation updates and key deadlines to support website, social media, email and public relations efforts.

- Prepare event briefs, recap reports, participation summaries and other internal reporting materials for leadership and cross-functional teams.

- Track attendance, participation, revenue, retailer feedback and other agreed-upon measures to support program evaluation and future planning.

- Support venue sales and operational coordination for Union Market District spaces by responding to inquiries, gathering event requirements, coordinating availability, assisting with site tours, tracking leads, maintaining venue sales records and supporting event logistics in partnership with the Senior Manager, Venue Sales & Operations.

Retailer Engagement and In-Store Activations

- Serve as a primary events liaison for Union Market District retail partners, maintaining regular communication about upcoming programs, participation opportunities and activation needs.

- Work with retail partners to develop in-store and district-wide activations that increase visibility, encourage customer engagement and support business goals.

- Identify opportunities to feature retail partners in festivals, cultural programs, culinary events, sports activations and private events across the district.

- Create clear participation plans, timelines and event information so retailers understand requirements, benefits and key deadlines.

- Gather partner feedback after events and recommend practical improvements to participation, communication and execution.

Partnerships and Sponsorships

- Support the development and execution of sponsorships and brand partnerships across Union Market District.

- Assist in developing activation concepts with prospective partners and support sponsorship fulfillment, partner benefits and event execution.

- Manage day-to-day communication with assigned sponsors and partners, ensuring agreed-upon deliverables, timelines and event needs are met.

- Support relationships with embassies, cultural institutions, nonprofits, educational organizations and creative collaborators that contribute to district programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

- A minimum of three(3) years of experience in event production, experiential marketing, sponsorship activation, venue sales, retail events, conferences or a related field.

- Demonstrated experience developing and executing pop-up activations, retail programs or conference experiences from initial concept through on-site delivery and recap.

- Experience working directly with retailers, clients, sponsors, vendors or community partners in a highly visible relationship-management role.

- Existing relationships with businesses and organizations that sponsor activations in the DMV are strongly preferred.

- Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, budgets and stakeholders at the same time.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, calendars, event documentation and departmental trackers.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the judgment to handle sensitive or confidential situations appropriately.

- A practical, solutions-oriented approach and a collaborative attitude when working across teams.

- Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays as event schedules require.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Copilot, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

- Experience with Tripleseat or similar event management and venue booking software is a plus.

- Interest in commercial real estate, placemaking and the role of programming in building strong communities.

SALARY RANGE
