Embrace the thrill of winter and step outside of the norm and into an outdoor opportunity you’ll cherish forever. Here at Sierra, we pride ourselves on our welcoming and inclusive work atmosphere that keeps the stoke high for our guests and employees alike all season long. If you’re looking for a full career switch centrally stationed in the beautiful Sierra Nevada, you just found it.
NOTE: This job description shall not be construed as a contract for employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Sierra-at-Tahoe is an at-will employer. This position requires a post offer background check.
SUMMARY
You'll bring the Sierra brand to life, from planning a two-hour base-area activation to multi-day events that need snowcats, permits, and a backup plan. Every event should drive visits, build loyalty, and serve a clear strategic goal. You'll also own our partnerships. That means keeping current partners stoked, delivering everything we owe them (and then some), and bringing in new partners who fit Sierra's culture and get real value from being here. Closer to home, you'll be our face in South Lake Tahoe, running local promotions and finding new ones. You'll do all of this in a snow environment, where the plan is a draft until the forecast agrees. Expect to reschedule snowcat transport mid-storm or move an event to the other side of the mountain the night before.
Duties and Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
Events
- Build the season's events calendar around Sierra's strategic goals, from small activations to large-scale, multi-day events.
- Own each event end to end: concept, budget, site selection and build, vendor and promoter negotiations, contracts, staffing, transportation, execution, and follow-up.
- Build a detailed event prospectus (run of show) for every event, so each department knows the timeline, the logistics, and its role.
- Set clear objectives for every event, measure results against them, and use what you learn to make the next one better.
- Build strong working relationships with food and beverage, base area operations, mountain operations, ski patrol, competition services, and terrain parks. No event happens without them.
- Adjust on the fly when weather moves in: rework plans, reschedule logistics like snowcat transport, and keep guests, staff, and partners in the loop.
- Create procedures, standards, and guidelines for event staff.
- Keep the Sierra voice consistent across every event, display, and piece of collateral.
Partnerships
- Manage resort-wide partnerships across terrain parks, food and beverage, ski and snowboard school, and external sponsors.
- Deliver every contracted deliverable on time, and look for ways to go beyond it.
- Serve as the on-site contact for partners at events and activations.
- Prospect, pitch, and close new partnerships that are brand-aligned and work for both sides.
- Draft and manage contracts for events, sponsorships, and promotions, and make sure both sides meet their obligations.
- Support shop relations and trade-show promotions.
Local Relationships + Promotions
- Build strong relationships with South Lake Tahoe businesses, organizations, and community.
- Oversee existing local promotions and develop new ones tied to Sierra's current objectives.
- Brief resort staff on active promotions and how they're tracked, so they're executed and measured correctly.
- Feed event and partner news to the marketing team for web, email, social, and PR.
Brand + Collateral
- Direct the Events Assistant in creating event collateral, displays, and promotional items that follow brand guidelines and current campaign creative.
- Keep standardized event collateral consistent and built to meet partner needs.
