The Opportunity
Design What Comes Next
Join a team helping shape some of the most complex and mission-critical facilities in Canada. Based in Vancouver, this opportunity allows you to lead the mechanical design of high-performance data centres and mission critical environments that power the digital economy.
From advanced cooling systems to resilient infrastructure solutions, your expertise will help clients build facilities that operate reliably, efficiently, and sustainably while supporting the future of technology and connectivity.
Your Impact
- Lead the mechanical design and delivery of data centres and mission critical facilities from concept through construction, driving high-quality outcomes across complex projects.
- Develop innovative HVAC, cooling, plumbing, thermal management, ventilation, heat-rejection, and fuel systems that optimize performance, resilience, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Integrate mechanical solutions with electrical, structural, architectural, controls, and digital infrastructure requirements through close multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Shape high-availability facilities by applying redundancy, fault-tolerance, operational-risk, and reliability strategies appropriate to demanding mission critical environments.
- Guide commissioning and construction activities, including integrated systems testing, FAT, SAT, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and reviews for compliance with design intent.
- Partner with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, utilities, commissioning authorities, and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Mentor engineers and designers, review technical deliverables, and strengthen a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Advance business growth through proposals, client relationships, technical due diligence, Owner’s Engineer services, and identification of opportunities across the mission critical sector.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration in British Columbia. Preference will be given to engineers registered in both British Columbia and Alberta.
- Demonstrated experience designing mission critical facilities, data centres, or highly resilient building systems, including hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, edge, or telecommunications environments in the 5 MW to 300+ MW CITL range and high-density AI/HPC deployments exceeding 50–200+ kW/rack.
- Deep technical knowledge of mission critical mechanical infrastructure, including air-cooled chillers, fluid coolers, CDUs, liquid-to-chip cooling, fan walls, CRAHs, CRACs, RDHX, DOAS, plumbing, generator-room cooling, combustion air, exhaust, heat rejection, and fuel-oil systems.
- Experience evaluating system resilience, maintainability, fault tolerance, operational risk, and redundancy, including N, N+1, 2N, and 2N+1 architectures, with knowledge of ASHRAE TC 9.9, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, TIA-942, and relevant Canadian codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of PLC and DDC control systems, including sequences of operation, control narratives, redundancy and failover logic, alarm management, and integration with BMS, EPMS, and mission critical infrastructure.
- Ability to review and provide technical direction on CFD analyses, airflow modelling, transient thermal studies, PUE optimization, WUE, and heat-recovery evaluations, supported by experience with industry building-systems design and modelling platforms.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects while managing technical priorities, client interfaces, design reviews, due diligence, and both greenfield and brownfield data-centre developments, expansions, and retrofits.
- Experience supporting construction and commissioning, including integrated systems testing, FAT and SAT, together with strong technical writing, project leadership, and client engagement skills.
