People Operations Lead

goodlord · London · hybrid

📍 London - Hybrid. 2 days per week in our London office, 3 days remote / work from home (40 hour week)

Are you a hands-on People Operations professional who loves working with data, enjoys solving problems and has already found clever ways to make processes better through technology and automation?

If so, we'd love to hear from you!

We've spent the last few years transforming People Operations at Goodlord, building strong foundations and finding smarter ways to work. Now we're looking for someone to take what we've built and make it even better.

You'll lead our small People Operations team, combining day-to-day operational ownership with systems, data, reward and continuous improvement.

We're particularly interested in people who bring three things: genuine People Operations expertise, a real strength in numbers and data, and practical experience of implementing automation or AI-enabled improvements.

What you'll be doing

- Own and continually improve our end-to-end People Operations processes, from onboarding and Right to Work compliance through to offboarding.

- Take ownership of our People systems, data and reporting, ensuring accuracy and providing meaningful insight to support decisions.

- Use AI, automation and technology to simplify processes, reduce manual work and improve efficiency.

- Support reward and benefits processes, including pay reviews, salary benchmarking and pay banding.

- Lead and support our People Operations Specialist, staying hands-on with the day-to-day while finding smarter ways of working.

What we're looking for

- Genuine experience owning and delivering People Operations, including employee lifecycle processes, HR systems and compliance.

- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, including advanced Excel and confidence working with complex data and calculations.

- Proven experience personally implementing automation or AI-enabled improvements to operational processes.

- The confidence, curiosity and judgement to challenge how things work, solve problems and drive improvements.

This role probably isn't for you if...

- Your background is primarily in People Partnering, HR advisory, Talent Acquisition or broader strategic People leadership rather than hands-on People Operations.

- Numbers and spreadsheets aren't your thing! Data, analysis and complex calculations are a significant part of this role, so you'll need to be confident with them and genuinely enjoy that side of the work.

- You're interested in AI and automation but haven't yet had the opportunity to put that interest into practice. We're looking for someone who can bring hands-on experience of implementing improvements.

- You're looking for or are operating at a purely strategic leadership role rather than being directly involved in operational delivery.

A little more about the role

You'll report to our People Director and manage our People Operations Specialist, working closely with teams across Goodlord.

This role is based in London, with two days a week in the office (Tuesday is our People Team anchor day) and three days working remotely, with once a month paid travel to our Sheffield and/or Lincoln offices.

If you're someone who loves getting into the detail, can confidently work with complex data and has already demonstrated how technology can transform People Operations, we'd love to hear from you
