Mechanical Design Engineer

Kela Technologies develops next-generation battlefield intelligence and mission systems, combining hardware and software to help defense organizations make faster, smarter decisions in complex operational environments.

We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Advanced Munitions Group, owning mechanical design from concept to production and supporting our mission to strengthen Western defense capabilities.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms throughout the lifecycle—from concept and detailed design through prototyping, validation, and production.

- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototypes in the lab, driving design improvements.

- Collaborate with hardware, electronics, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

- Create complex CAD models and detailed production drawings using SolidWorks.

- Travel to manufacturing sites and suppliers as needed to support production and validation.

Requirements

- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of multidisciplinary products.

- 2+ years of professional experience designing for plastic injection molding, including Moldflow analysis.

- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.

- Experience designing mechanisms, with strong engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.

- In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding, CNC machining, and sheet metal design, including design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).

- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping and prototype development, with willingness to work in the lab and on the production floor.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
