We’re looking for an experienced Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join our Ogilvy PR team on a 12-month contract, supporting a major new corporate client.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive communications professional with a strong foundation in corporate PR, media relations and reputation management. You’ll bring an established understanding of the Australian media landscape, existing relationships with relevant journalists and a genuine passion for identifying stories that cut through.
Working across a complex corporate environment, you’ll play a hands-on role in developing media opportunities, building relationships with key business and industry journalists, crafting compelling narratives and securing meaningful earned media coverage. You’ll also contribute to strategic communications planning, thought leadership and corporate storytelling, translating complex business and technical information into clear, engaging content.
You’ll work alongside a team of specialist communications consultants, storytellers, opinion shapers, thinkers and makers to help organisations navigate complex communications environments, build trust with stakeholders and deliver meaningful outcomes through strategic storytelling and earned influence.
This role is ideal for someone ready to take ownership of day-to-day media relations and account delivery, while continuing to develop their strategic communications and client management skills.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and producers across business, corporate, trade and mainstream media.
- Proactively identify newsworthy angles, develop tailored pitches and secure meaningful editorial coverage for the client.
- Manage day-to-day media relations, including journalist enquiries, media opportunities, interview coordination and spokesperson briefings.
- Develop compelling corporate stories and translate complex business, technical and operational information into clear, engaging narratives.
- Draft high-quality media releases, media alerts, pitches, thought leadership articles, op-eds, executive profiles, Q&As and key messages.
- Monitor the media landscape, industry developments and competitor activity to identify opportunities, emerging issues and potential reputational risks.
- Contribute to corporate communications strategies and media plans aligned with client objectives and reputation priorities.
- Support the development of executive profiling and thought leadership opportunities to strengthen the client’s presence across relevant media.
- Manage day-to-day account activity, working closely with senior team members and supporting the delivery of client projects and campaigns.
- Assist with client liaison, meeting preparation, contact reports, project administration and reporting.
- Coordinate media briefings, interviews, stakeholder events and corporate announcements.
- Track media coverage and evaluate results to demonstrate the impact of communications activity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Proactively identify, research and engage with relevant journalists, editors, producers and industry analysts across business, trade and mainstream media.
- Develop and deliver tailored media strategies and pitches, secure interview opportunities, and manage media liaison for project spokespeople.
- Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with key media contacts relevant to corporate affairs, infrastructure, and the broader business landscape.
- Monitor media landscapes to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks for project reputation and stakeholder engagement.
- Draft high-quality, impactful content including media releases, media alerts, thought leadership articles, op-eds, executive biographies, Q&As, speaking notes and stakeholder communications materials.
- Translate complex technical, operational and corporate information into clear, concise and compelling narratives.
- Contribute to the development of key messages and strategic communications plans to support project objectives.
- Support senior team members in managing stakeholder and client relationships, including preparing meetings, drafting agendas, developing contact reports and managing project administration.
- Assist in the development of communications plans, strategies and reporting focused on project and corporate objectives.
- Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, competitor activities and media opportunities to inform communications strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive media coverage and reporting documents.
- Coordinate logistics for media briefings, interviews, stakeholder events and project announcements.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 2 – 4+ years’ experience in PR and communications, with a strong background in corporate PR, media relations or corporate affairs.
- Established relationships with Australian journalists across business, corporate, trade or mainstream media, with the ability to identify relevant contacts and build new relationships.

- Experience supporting corporate reputation, executive profiling or thought leadership activity.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.
- A proactive, self-starting approach, with the confidence to take ownership of day-to-day deliverables and work autonomously.
