The Role:

The Security Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving security technologies across endpoint, network, cloud, identity, data, and application environments. This hands on role supports the organization's security infrastructure while strengthening technical controls and ensuring alignment with HIPAA, SOC 2, and business requirements.

The Security Engineer partners with Security Operations, Infrastructure, GRC, and external providers to improve security monitoring, incident response, data protection, and vulnerability management across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Implement, maintain, and optimize security technologies across endpoint, network, cloud, identity, data, and application environments, supporting security architecture and technical standards.

- Support security monitoring and incident response activities, including SIEM, XDR, EDR, detection tuning, investigations, forensic data collection, and coordination with external security providers.

- Implement and maintain data loss prevention (DLP) and identity access management (IAM) controls, including access reviews, least privilege, privileged access, and protection of sensitive information.

- Manage vulnerability scanning and remediation activities, prioritizing findings, validating fixes, and improving security configurations across cloud and infrastructure environments.

- Automate security workflows, integrations, reporting, and control validation while maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and compliance evidence.

What you Bring to the Table:

Qualifications

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, security operations, cloud security, infrastructure security, or a related technical role.

- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

- Experience implementing enterprise security technologies, including SIEM/XDR, EDR, DLP, IAM, vulnerability scanning, firewalls, or cloud security controls.

- Experience supporting security incidents, technical investigations, detection engineering, and automation using PowerShell, Python, APIs, or similar tools.

- Experience in healthcare or regulated environments preferred; familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, NIST CSF, or relevant security certifications is a plus.

The expected California Pay Range for this position:$120,000—$150,000 USD
