AI-Native Electrical Engineer
True Talent Solutions Partners · Detroit · onsite
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an energy technology team developing high-voltage power systems. You will turn early-stage prototypes into testable alpha hardware for initial design partners, combining hands-on engineering with AI-enabled development workflows.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop lab-scale prototypes into structured, validated, customer-ready hardware systems.
- Design high-voltage DC power conversion, switching, and distribution architectures, including systems using SiC devices.
- Model and simulate electrical, thermal, and system-level performance with tools such as SPICE and PLECS.
- Lead lab bring-up, debugging, and characterization of high-power hardware, including switching, timing, sensing, and protection.
- Use AI tools, including agents and language models, to accelerate design, testing, and iteration.
- Coordinate PCB fabrication, component sourcing, and packaging with external partners.
- Make practical tradeoffs across performance, thermal management, reliability, and manufacturability.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 2 years of experience designing, prototyping, and testing power electronics systems.
- Experience owning hardware from prototype through simulation, bring-up, iteration, and system validation.
- Hands-on experience with gate-driver design for fast-switching architectures.
- Proficiency with electrical simulation tools such as SPICE or PLECS, and familiarity with circuit design and high-voltage DC systems.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated aptitude in power electronics.
- Strong intuition for electrical systems and the ability to reason across electrical, thermal, and mechanical tradeoffs.
- Experience integrating AI tools, such as agents or models, into engineering workflows.
- Background in EVs, EV charging, solar, battery storage, or high-voltage switching systems is useful, including SiC or GaN applications.
